The 'Canes open their new season on Saturday night

The Hamilton Hurricanes came up one win short of hosting their first Canadian Bowl since 2011 last season.  They would fall to the Windsor AKO Fratmen in the Ontario Conference championship game 34-20.

That loss has fueled their returning players entering 2018 and they will kick-off the new season on Saturday night in a familiar spot.  They will travel to Windsor for a date with the Fratmen.

This season quarterback Jake Marquette enters his third campaign and the Hurricanes are hopeful it will be his best.  Marquette will have a number of new weapons to target offensively, but does have a familiar face returning as well in Angus Button.

Head coach Jason Hayes previews his club with Ryan Watters and discusses  Marquette, the defensive side of the ball and what the strength will be this season.

Head Coach: Jason Hayes (11th season)

2017 Result: finished 5-3, beat the London Beefeaters in the Conference semi-final then fell to the Fratmen in the Ontario final.

Starting QB: Jake Marquette (3rd season)

Key Departures: David Adeniran, Trey Ivy

Expected Team Strength: Typically the Hurricanes defence is a solid group and will be again this season.  Coach Hayes also says Marquette is the strength on the offensive side

2018 Schedule Quirk:   On September 10th the Hurricanes will host the Fratmen in Brantford, Ontario at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Complex.  This will be the first CJFL game at that complex.
