Edmonton Huskies 43
Winnipeg Rifles 7

The Huskies remain undefeated after their defence shut down the Rifles on Saturday night.  The potent running attack was slowed to 107 total yards and Micheal Ritchott was held to just 75 yards.

The defence even got in on the scoring when Donovan Burgmaier picked up a fumble and rumbled 44 yards the other direction for the touchdown.  He also had one of four Huskies sacks.

On the offensive side a pair of Huskies quarterbacks threw touchdown passes to Brandt Burzuk and Connor Bergensen.    Brad Launhardt and Tommy Yanchuk combined to complete 20 passes for 211 yards.  Launhardt also rushed for a major and Jimmie Airey added another on the ground.

The lone Rifles touchdown came on the ground from quarterback Jonathan Remple in the fourth quarter.

The Huskies (7-0) now prepare for a first place showdown with the Saskatoon Hilltops (6-1) on Saturday night.  The Rifles (3-4) look to finish the regular season on Saturday night hosting the Regina Thunder (5-2)

Regina Thunder 33
Calgary Colts 15

Despite putting up 500 yards of total offence the Colts fell to the Thunder in Regina on Sunday.

Without quarterback Sawyer Buettner the Thunder predominately used the ground game to chew up yards.  Victor St. Pierre-Laviolette rushed 18 times for 169 yards and a touchdown and Joel Senko carried the rock nine times and scored a pair of touchdowns.

Back-up quarterback Brock Sich finished 11 of 19 for 190 yards and ran for a major.

On the defensive side the Thunder forced six turnovers including intercepting four passes to complement their four sacks.

The Colts were able to move the ball on the Thunder but not able to finish.  Quarterback Bailey Wasdal completed 19 passes for 338 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Jesse Kuntz.    Wasdal also ran for a touchdown.    Brandon MacIsaac had a monster game with four catches for 141 yards while Kuntz made eight receptions for 112 yards.

On the ground Dylan Minshull was impressive with 145 yards on 23 carries.

Next weekend the Thunder (5-2) will visit the Winnipeg Rifles (3-4) on Saturday night to wrap up the regular season, while the Colts (2-5) will end their campaign on Sunday in Edmonton against the Wildcats (1-6).

Saskatoon Hilltops 51
Edmonton Wildcats 0

The Hilltops offensive juggernaut rolled on collecting another 601 yards of total offence.  The ground game alone racked up 381 yards led by Adam Machart who carried 12 times for 221 yards, averaging 18 yards a carry and had a touchdown.  Logan Fischer and Ben Abrook also had touchdowns.

Through the air Jordan Walls completed 10 passes for 213 yards and threw touchdown passes to Sam Mike, Tanner Rhode and Ryan Turple.

Defensively the Hilltops gave most of their players some playing time.  Riley Pickett collected his Conference leading 10th sack while Evan Kretzer intercepted a pass.

One of the bright spots for the Wildcats was Cody Olson who rushed for 108 yards against a very stringy defence on nine carries.

The Hilltops (6-1) will travel to Edmonton on Saturday night to face the Huskies (7-0) in a first place showdown, while the Wildcats (1-6) will conclude their season on Sunday afternoon when they host the Calgary Colts (2-5).
