A history making, rivalry filled Saturday

An exciting day across the country as the CJFL makes history with a pair of Interconference games, two huge rivalry games and a match-up on a neutral site.

Winnipeg Rifles @ Valley Huskers – Saturday September 17, 1:00pm, Exhibition Stadium – WATCH HERE

These two clubs will make history as the first ever CJFL Interconference game.  The Rifles are coming off a bye week, while the Huskers lost a heartbreaker last weekend giving up a touchdown with 53 seconds left.

The Island Rivalry sparks again. Back in Week 2 the Rebels got their first ever win over the Raiders, blasting them 45-22 at home.  The Rebels are currently tied for first place in the BCFC with three games to go.  The Raiders have lost 3 of 4 and will look to get back to .500 and even the Island series.

It’s the ninth meeting between these two winning programs and second in as many seasons.  This will be the first visit to the Apple Bowl for the Hilltops since the 2000 Canadian Bowl.

Calgary Colts vs. Regina Thunder – Saturday September 17, 7:00pm – Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat will host a meaningful CJFL game for the first time since the 1979 season when the Thunder and Colts square off.  There is plenty of excitement surrounding this game and the football community in the “Hat” has come together and will put on a show. The Colts are the lone undefeated CJFL team and are coming off a bye, while the Thunder lost by just two points in Saskatoon last weekend.

Edmonton Wildcats @ Edmonton Huskies – Saturday September 17, 7:00pm – Clarke Field – WATCH HERE

It’s one of the most intense rivalries in the PFC as the battle for Edmonton part 2 kicks off tonight.  Just three weeks ago the Huskies blasted the Wildcats 62-21 for their only victory of the season.  The Wildcats continue to struggle and haven’t won a game since August 15 of 2015.  However they are coming out of the bye week with renewed energy.

The Rams have won five of their last six games and are within one win of first place.  One of those wins was a 51-7 dominating performance over the Broncos allowing just 144 yards of total offence.  The Broncos on the other hand recorded their first win last weekend, scoring a touchdown with 53 seconds to go.
