Nine Former CJFL Players In Grey Cup

The CJFL well represented in the 102nd edition

Nine players with CJFL experience will play in the 102nd Grey Cup Sunday afternoon in Vancouver.

The Eastern Division champions Hamilton Tiger-Cats have four former CJFL players; offensive lineman Tim O’Neill (Victoria Rebels) and linebacker Marc Beswick (Vancouver Trojans and Abbotsford Air Force).  The seven year CFL vet recorded 11 special teams tackles this past season.  Also receiver Matt Coates (Hamilton Hurricanes) and defensive back, Neil King) (Edmonton Wildcats).  Coates caught two passes for 25 yards in his rookie season while King made 15 solo tackles and 17 special teams tackles.

Meanwhile the Western Division champions Calgary Stampeders have five former CJFL players; running back Rob Cote (Victoria Rebels), Spencer Wilson (Okanagan Sun/Calgary Colts).  In his two seasons with the Rebels, Cote amassed 49 carries for 407 yards, 90 receptions, 1,698 yards and 20 touchdowns.   This past regular season with the Stampes, the Calgary native caught 11 passes for 96 yards and a score, as well as 31 yards on seven carries.  Defensive back Jeff Hecht who captured one solo tackle and 12 special teams tackle is also on the roster, as is Max Caron (Okanagan Sun) and Chris Bauman (Winnipeg Rifles), but both will not play.

The Tiger-Cats and Stampeders will kick-off the 102nd Grey Cup at 3:00pm PST
