The Ontario Conference announced their Most Outstanding Players and Coach of the Year for the 2023 season as a build up to the Conference title game this coming weekend.
Ontario Conference Outstanding Players:
Coach of the Year – Mike LaChance – St. Clair Saints – he led his team to an undefeated 8-0 record and tough semi-final victory over the Ottawa Sooners last weekend.
Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Ezzat Elnagmi – St. Clair Saints
Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Richard Graham – Ottawa Sooners - 24 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown, 1 blocked kick, 1 interception for a touchdown, 2 knockdowns
Alex Stajic Memorial Special Teams – DB – Dylan Roberts – London Beefeaters – he had 11 specials teams tackles on the season and held excellent containment during each kick
Return Specialist – Nick Szigeti – Quite Skyhawks – he had 22 punt returns averaging over 15.4 yards a return and 27 kick-off returns averaging 23.2 yards and returned one kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown
Offensive Rookie of the Year – Receiver – Darius France – St. Clair Saints - he had 18 receptions for 391 yards and had three touchdowns
Defensive Rookie of the Year – Linebacker – Noah Nelson – Ottawa Sooners - 23 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, one for a touchdown, 1 forced fumble, 7 assisted tackles
Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – Defensive Lineman – Richard Graham – Ottawa Sooners - 24 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown, 1 blocked kick, 1 interception for a touchdown, 2 knockdowns
Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year – Running Back – LJ Dyer – London Beefeaters - he won the Ontario Conference rushing title with 1158 yards on 136 carries and had nine touchdowns
Bill Prest Community Service Award – Luis Veliz – Hamilton Hurricanes
This Saturday the #1 seeded St. Clair Saints host the #2 seeded London Beefeaters in the Ontario Conference championship game for the fourth straight season. The winner heads to the CJFL National Championship game.
