The Conference enters semi-final Saturday with a pair of playoff games.

The Beefeaters and Hurricanes are very familiar with each other in the postseason as they meet this coming Saturday in London.  The Beefeaters have won the last two playoff meetings in 2021 (24-0) and 2019 (17-8).  The last time the Hurricanes beat them was in 2017 with a 44-7 victory.

Coming into the weekend the Beefeaters are the favourites after beating the Hurricanes twice during the regular season.  The last meeting on September 17th was the closest margin of victory, when the Beefeaters won by seven.  

The defence for the Beefeaters has been incredible this season as the stingiest in the Conference giving up just over 12 points a game. They are fast and swam to the ball not allowing their opposition much room to move.  In five of their six wins, they held teams to under 10 points. 

During the seasonal series the Beefeaters were able to move the ball predominately on the ground collecting over 900 total yards in their two meetings.   Running the ball alone, they gobbled up an incredible 831 yards led by LJ Dyer who amassed 451 but amazingly didn’t find the endzone. 

The Hurricanes are going to have to find a way to slow the run game and push the Beefeaters into a passing team.  

The winner moves on the Conference title game.

Ottawa Sooners @ St. Clair Saints – Saturday October 14, 7:00pm – Acumen Stadium | WATCH HERE

For the first time since 2017 the St. Clair Saints face the Ottawa Sooners in the playoffs.  At that time the Saints were the Windsor AKO Fratmen and they took down the Sooners 42-14.

To find out the last time the Sooners beat this organization, one must travel back to 1995 when the Forrest Gump won the best picture award at the Oscars.  That year the Sooners advanced in the postseason with a 32-21 victory.

During the regular season the undefeated Saints won both meetings but their last game against the Sooners was their closest margin of victory, holding on for a two-point win on September 23rd. 

Their previous two meetings look nothing alike.  The Saints completely dominated their first game in a 30-4 win holding the Sooners to 67 yards of total offence.

The second game however was incredibly close when the Sooners scored 10 points in the final quarter but lost by two.  The only points the Saints scored in the final frame was a conceded safety.

The Saints are undefeated while the Sooners come into the postseason having won four of their last five, their only setback was the loss to the Saints.
