At 6’4, 220 pounds, Colton Meikle of the Kamloops Broncos has been an extremely deadly weapon over his first three seasons in the BC Conference.   He often draws the opposition’s best defensive back and sometimes is double teamed just to slow him down.

He has learned to use his size to create space on the field to make plays which is one of his greatest strengths.  He is also an excellent downfield blocker and takes great pride in springing one of his teammates loose to make a big play.

The Broncos are hoping for big things from the Kamloops native after a solid 2023 campaign in which he caught 39 passes for 598 yards and had seven touchdowns.  He was named a Conference All-Star for the second consecutive season.

When he looks back at his three CJFL seasons, Meikle says his favourite game came last year against the Prince George Kodiaks when he had five receptions for 222 yards and hauled in three touchdowns. He and the offence were clicking that day as his club won by 30 points.

Out of all the plays he has made as a Bronco, the one that sticks out the most came in 2022.  It was one of the last plays of the game and season when the Broncos pulled off a flee flicker, with the end zone pass heading to him.  He made the reception over two defenders for six points bringing his team to within three points after being down 25-14 in the third.

As he enters his fourth season, his personal goal is to continue to produce at a high level and to be named a CJFL First Team All-Canadian.

The Broncos open their season on July 20 when they host the defending Cullen Cup champion Westshore Rebels at Hillside Stadium.

Receiver Colton Meikle is a CJFL Player to Watch in 2024.

Clawing through Kodiak Country

Wide receiver Brady Van Someren of the Prince George Kodiaks has high expectations of himself as he looks to build off last year and enter the 2024 CJFL season.

He has a cool football story as a Saskatchewan born player that decided to look for an opportunity to play football in a different province.  He has family ties to Prince George which is one of the reasons why he landed in Kodiak country.

He shares his Football Story with Ryan Watters.
