A pair of current CJFL players have been named to Football Canada’s 30 player roster for the U19 national team which is set to compete at the 2016 International Bowl.

Running back Adam Machart (pictured) of the Saskatoon Hilltops and offensive lineman Skye King of the Calgary Colts have both been added to roster.  Both players will be in Arlington Texas on January 31 and will suit up to play the US national team at AT&T Stadium.

As an 18 year old with the Hilltops Machart didn’t see much action during the 2015 season.  He played in four games, rushed 10 times for 54 yards and scored a touchdown against the Winnipeg Rifles.

Skye King was only 17 during the 2015 season but showed his tremendous athleticism playing on both the offensive and defensive line.  He started five of the Colts eight games on the offensive line and was named a PFC All-Rookie for his play.  He also played three games on the defensive line and started one of those game after the Colts found themselves shorthanded.

Canada’s U19 national team program represents a pool of identified players in preparation for the 2016 Worlds. Based on player’s performances at this year’s International Bowl, a roster of 45 players will be selected to represent Canada at the 2016 IFAF U19 World Championship in China.

The International Bowl, held to coincide with NCAA’s National Signing Day, was established in 2010 as an annual Team USA versus the World game until it transitioned into its current format in 2014.
