It was a playoff preview on Saturday as the top ranked Rebels completely dominated the Rams in every facet of the game.

However, the score wasn’t the most impressive feat during this game.  Rebels quarterback Te Jessie has been incredible all season and has etched his name in the CJFL record books.  He threw four more touchdown passes this game giving him 38 for the season, which is a new CJFL single season record, surpassing the 35 that Jordan Yantz of the VI Raiders compiled in 2011 and Nate Cote of the then Victoria Rebels had in 2007.

Jessie on Saturday finished 13 of 17 for 249 yards and those four scores.  Back-up Ethan Pickard added another TD pass. Receiver Cairo Berry also had an impressive game hauling in three touchdowns, 114 receiving yards and even ran for a major. Kieran Poisssant played an important role making a pair of touchdown receptions.  On the ground Gerren Hardisty added two touchdown runs and chewed up 94 yards.

While the offence was putting up big numbers, the defence quietly went about their business holding the Rams to 98 yards through the air and forced seven turnovers.

The Rams lone touchdown came on a Trey Jones TD run.

The regular season has come to a close for the Rams (5-4) and they will now prepare for the Canadian Bowl playoffs in which they will face the Rebels again in two weeks.  Meanwhile the Rebels (9-0) will hit the road for their regular season finale next weekend when they meet the VI Raiders (0-9).

Okanagan Sun 74
Prince George Kodiaks 10

For the second straight week the Sun put up over 70-points on the Kodiaks to move to 7-1 on the regular season.

Two Sun quarterbacks accounted for seven touchdowns; Adam Rocha threw four of them and Hunter Norman connected on 15 passes for 216 yards and three majors.   The receivers were busy collecting 399 yards with Ethan Keifer leading the charge with 124 yards and three touchdowns and Colby Miletto, Jasiah Haliburton, Sam Melanson and Kenny Williams each catching a touchdown.

On the ground, this offence gobbled up 265 yards led by the 191 from Elelyon Noa along with his two touchdowns.  Aiden Wieberg also scored on the ground.

The Kodiaks offence sputtered against the Sun defence to the tune of 107 total yards.  All their scoring came in the second quarter when quarterback Kayle Cowley found Kaden Wagner for a touchdown and Brady Harper connected on a 32-yard field goal.

Next week the Sun (7-1) will head to Chilliwack for the regular season finale when they face the Valley Huskers (7-2) in a playoff preview with the winner hosting the other in a semi-final the following week.  The Kodiaks (2-7) will finish their season with a visit to Kamloops to meet the Broncos (1-8).

Valley Huskers 39
Kamloops Broncos 3

The visiting Huskers scored 16-points in the first half and never looked back as they won their seventh game of the season behind 387 yards of total offence.

A healthy Tyran Duval made his return completing 13 passes for 148 yards and had a touchdown while back-up Lucas Feaver struck for another one.  Both Luc Rodriques and Brandon Halsey had touchdown receptions.  On the ground Reece Wyke was simply outstanding with 125 yards on 20 carries and found the endzone three times.

Defensively the Huskers forced nine turnovers, most of those on downs.  However, Wilclair Neufeld picked off two passes and had three tackles. Jaiden Claassen collected two sacks and four stops.

The Broncos struggled to find their rhythm offensively scoring their lone points in the second quarter when Reise Huber nailed a 23-yard field goal.

The Huskers (7-2) will host the Okanagan Sun (7-1) next weekend in the regular season finale with the winner hosting the other in a playoff game. The Broncos (1-8) will wrap up their season when they welcome the Prince George Kodiaks (2-7).
