The best from Week 10 of the season

The CJFL is proud to reveal the Players of the Week following Week 10 of the regular season.

Offensive Players of the Week

Ontario Conference
RB Geoff Clubine – London Beefeaters

Scoring touchdowns at a rate of one for every two times he carried the ball, the Quinte Skyhawks defence simply had no answers for the London running back. While he only carried the ball six times, Clubine amassed 129 yards and three touchdowns.  He averaged a jaw dropping 21.5 yards per carry with his longest going for 39 yards.

Prairie Conference
WR Travis Heggart – Edmonton Wildcats

The Edmonton Wildcats recorded their first win since the 2021 season and Travis Heggart played an important role in his final CJFL home game.  He made six receptions, four of them for touchdowns and gained 149 yards.

BC Conference
QB Tayen Lloyd – Kamloops Broncos

The Broncos collected their first win of the season this past weekend and were led by their quarterback Tayen Lloyd.  He finished with 13 completions for 171 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns.  He also used his legs to near perfection, rushing 13 times for 129 yards and two more touchdowns.

Defensive Players of the Week

Ontario Conference
FS Nathan Norton – St. Clair Saints

The ball hawking safety simply ruined the offensive game plan for the Hurricanes as he personally played a part in three of the seven Hurricane turnovers.  Norton picked off two passes and forced a fumble which was recovered by his defensive mates.  For good measure Norton also had one tackle.

Prairie Conference
LB Noah Gedir – Saskatoon Hilltops

The Hilltops relied on their defence on a rainy Saturday night at SMF Field beating their rivals 19-10.  Linebacker Noah Gedir was outstanding with eight tackles and five assisted stops.

BC Conference
LB Abe Fimbo – Kamloops Broncos

Defensively the Broncos helped secure the team’s first of the campaign and Abe Fimbo was a leader.  The veteran led the way with a game high eight tackles.

Special Teams Players of the Week

Ontario Conference
RB Gage Blasco – St. Clair Saints

When you account for over half of your team’s special teams tackles you might say that you had a good day at the office.  Blasco was a special teams demon on Sunday as he had four solo special teams tackles and more importantly limited a dangerous Hamilton kick return game to a measly average of 14 yards per return.

Prairie Conference
KR Breyan Elias – Edmonton Wildcats

What a game for returner Breyan Elias helping the Wildcats to their first win in two years.  In the third quarter he exploded returning two kick-offs for touchdowns. The first was 92-yards on the opening kick off of the second half and the other was later in the quarter as he galloped 100 yards for the score.  In all he returned three kicks-offs and racked up 217 return yards.

BC Conference
PK Reece Wyke – Valley Huskers

Over the past two seasons fans are accustom to seeing Reece Wyke of the Valley Huskers running the ball, gobbling up yards and making defences pay.  However, this past weekend he also showed fans he can kick.  He knocked through all four-field goal attempts he took and was a perfect 2-2 in converts soring 14 of the Huskers 26 points.  Oh, and he also added a touchdown on the offensive side giving him 20 points scored in the win.
