The top individual performances of the past week

Following the Labour Day long weekend and only five games, the CJFL is proud to announce the Week 6 Players of the Week.

Offensive Players of the Week

BC Conference
WR Kieran Poissant – Westshore Rebels

The win for the Rebels, and another Offensive Player of the Week nod.  Receiver Kieran Poissant was simply outstanding this past Saturday helping his Rebels to their fifth win of the campaign and they remain undefeated.  Poissant caught 10 passes for 181 yards and scampered 88 yards for a touchdown.

Ontario Conference
RB MJ Doyle-Marshall – St. Clair Saints

In a hard-fought game with their rivals from London, MJ Doyle-Marshall carried the ball 15 times for an impressive 184 yards and two touchdowns including the winning score with under five minutes to play helping to secure a victory in the Saints' home opener in front of a raucous crowd numbering over 1,000 people.

Defensive Players of the Week

BC Conference
DB Kyle Huish – Langley Rams

Saturday afternoon the Rams secondary was busy defending the high-powered Westshore Rebels offence. Kyle Huish was up to the task intercepting two passes and made five solo tackles.

Ontario Conference
DL Richard Graham – Ottawa Sooners

The Sooners’ defensive catalyst led a hard-hitting Ottawa defence to their first win of the season over the previously undefeated Quinte Skyhawks.  Graham wreaked havoc as he compiled two quarterback sacks, two tackles, blocked a kick and intercepted a pass which he returned for a 72-yard touchdown. In all Graham produced 20 defensive points on the day.

Special Teams Players of the Week

BC Conference
LB Shaan Sandhu – Langley Rams

To keep the game close in Langley, the Rams special teams needed to cover on kicks to the Rebels from good field position.  That’s exactly what Shaan Sandhu did all afternoon for his Rams, making three important special teams tackles and was great on kick returns all afternoon.

Ontario Conference
K Adam Wojnowski – London Beefeaters

Despite the loss, Adam Wojnowski was a special teams weapon for the Beefeaters as he connected on 5 of 6 field goal attempts with his only miss coming from 52 yards.  He was also perfect on his three convert attempts finishing the game with 18 total points.
