Nine is Fine

By CJFL Media 04/04/2025, 8:30am PDT

The Saskatoon Hilltops have signed nine LOIs to date

The Saskatoon Hilltops have taken full advantage of the CJFL’s Letter of Intent (LOI) program this offseason.  Each CJFL team is allowed up to 10 LOI signings before National Signing Day on June 1, 2025.

The Toppers have been very active to date, signing nine of their allotted 10 players.

One of the strengths of their offensive push each and every year is their running attack and have had some incredible backs in recent memory like Boston Davidsen, Ben Abrook, Logan Fischer and now Corbin Ebben just to name a few.  However, without a solid offensive line their run game isn’t as dominate.

They have signed three offensive linemen to LOIs including University of Alberta transfer Seth Unger, the big body of Nathan Mark from Centennial high school in Saskatoon and Matthew Elesh from Holy Cross, who was part of the provincial championship final four last season.

A pair of receivers have also signed LOIs.  Gage Prodaehl (pictured) from Prince Albert has shown his versatility and can play on both sides of the ball, but should be a receiver once getting to Saskatoon.  He’s a big target that knows how to be an excellent route runner. Watch his highlight reel below:

Donovan Harkness is another receiver without a ceiling and the Hilltops have high hopes for him.  He is a very good addition to the club from Moose Jaw.

On the defensive side the Hilltops have signed some impressive young talent.  A pair of defensive backs from Bishop James Mahoney high school have committed.  Daniel Moser and Jackson Andrews should make an immediate impact at practice, pushing the veteran players as they try and earn more reps.

Linebacker Zach Potter from Swift Current is a hard-nosed defender who could easily follow in the footsteps of the laundry list of outstanding linebackers to come through the Hilltops program.   Head coach Tom Sargeant is so keen on Potter he wanted him to sign immediately after the Grade 12 combine.

Riley Stewart is another linebacker itching to make the Hilltops roster.  He’s a standout from Yorkton who has a nose for the football and will be a force for the blue and gold for years to come.

Prairie Conference Schedule

By CJFL Media 03/19/2025, 9:00am PDT

All six PFC teams open the schedule on August 10th

The CJFL and Prairie Conference (PFC) are pleased to release their 2025 schedule that will see the six-member Conference open the CJFL season on Sunday August 10, 2025 with a full slate of games.

With the CJFL Canadian Bowl scheduled to be played in the Prairies this November, stakes are even higher for all six teams coming into the new campaign.

The defending Conference champion Regina Thunder will open up their quest for another title on the road when they visit the Edmonton Huskies.  The Saskatoon Hilltops also kickoff on the road when they travel to Winnipeg to meet the Rifles and the Calgary Colts entertain the Edmonton Wildcats in Week 1.

Each team will play an eight-game regular season schedule concluding on Thanksgiving Sunday, October 12th.  The top four teams will then advance to the Canadian Bowl Playoffs which will begin the following weekend with a pair of semi-finals before the PFC title game on October 26th.  The winner of that game will host the 2025 Canadian Bowl national championship.

Their opponent will be the winner of the CJFL National Semi-Final game between the BC Conference and Ontario Conference champions.  That game will also be held on October 26th in British Columbia for the first time since the 2021 season.

The BC and Ontario Conferences continue to work on their schedules and do anticipate releasing them in the coming weeks.
