The defending Canadian Bowl champion St. Clair Saints will have some enormous cleats to fill in 2025 following the graduation of some very important pieces of their undefeated championship run from last season. 

QB Maurice Sodja is perhaps their biggest grad after an eye-popping 2024 season in which he was named a CJFL All-Canadian for the second straight season, led his team to their first national crown in 25 years and dominated teams with his arm and his legs.  He completed 68% of his passes and accounted for an average of 265 yards a game both passing and running the ball.

REC Tai Colquhoun was a threat this regular season making 16 receptions for 278 yards, averaging 17.4 yards a catch and scored four touchdowns.  He made two receptions in the Canadian Bowl one of which was for a touchdown.

REC Alex MacLellan contributed during the regular season making eight receptions for 90 yards, averaging 11.3 yards a catch and hauled in a pair of majors.

Tyrone Gulam-Webber and Jaden Caston (pictured) from the Saints offensive line are massive losses coming off a First Team All-Canadian season.  Both were instrumental giving quarterback Maurice Sodja time to throw the ball, or bust through a giant hole to chew up yards on the ground. 

DL Niko Hrcan was part of a very solid defensive line that didn’t give up much to the opposition.  He finished with three tackles, four assisted stops and a pair of tackles for a loss.

LB Chatez Wiley plugged up the middle of the field during his graduating season. He finished the year with eight tackles, 1.5 of which were for a loss, six assisted stops, and had a sack.

DB Gaddy Kazadi was named a First Team All-Canadian in the Saints secondary making three interceptions combining for 20 return yards to complement his 14 tackles, five assisted stops, two blocked kicks, three knockdowns and even recovered a fumble. 

DB Gamy Kazadi had a pair of interceptions and returned one of them 72-yards for a touchdown last season. He also had a sack and a half, eight solo tackles, seven assisted stops, had a knockdown and forced a fumble.  He was named an Ontario Conference All-Star.

DB Billy Patterson Jr had a sparkling career with the Saints and will be missed in their secondary. His biggest moment in 2024 was intercepting a pass in the Canadian Bowl and returning it 41 yards helping his club to the national crown.  During the regular season he added seven solo tackles, three assists and had an interception. 

DB Nik Mahlman was part of this Saints secondary that didn’t give up much the entire season.  He intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown, had nine solo tackles, six assists, blocked a kick and collected half a sack.

PK Jack Lewis was the CJFL’s Second Team All-Canadian Place Kicker in 2024 connecting on an Ontario Conference high eight field goals and knocked through 52 converts, sharing the Conference lead for most points scored.  He also nailed two field goals in the Canadian Bowl putting points on the board for the Saints. He showed that having a quality kicker can be a massive difference maker in junior football. 

P Preston Knight didn’t see too much action during the regular season because the Saints offence chewed up yardage and put plenty of points on the board.  He managed 22 punts in the regular season with a net average of 27.5 yards a kick and recorded a single point.
