One of the bright spots on the GTA Grizzlies this past year was the play of Joash Perry who saw time both on the offensive and defensive lines.  He’s no stranger to playing both ways coming to the Grizzlies from Mayfield Secondary School in Caledon.  Once he joined the Grizzlies he immediately exceled through proper coaching of his technique and fundamentals.

When in the huddle and the quarterback calls a running play Perry gets excited, “Definitely, especially if you’re a pulling guard, when you know you get to crack a kid on the other side.  It’s just the best feeling ever because when you see that play develop, it’s like ya, I was part of that of that play, I did something big and that’s why we are moving because we’re all one unit and if that unit is working together, it’s amazing what that outcome is.”

Perry is spending time in the CJFL to get better and fine tune his natural skills but does have aspirations of moving on either on the offensive or defensive side.  “I’ve always wanted to play pro starting when I was in high school and I’ve taken every step possible to keep on going and keep on playing and I’m ready to give it my all and make it.”    Being a part of the Grizzlies organization Perry would love to ultimately play for his hometown Argos.

Joash Perry of the GTA Grizzlies is a CJFL Weekend Warrior.

And the winner is...

Thank you to the fans who took time to vote for the CJFL Fans Choice Photo of the Year.  1,163 votes were cast and a winner has been chosen!

Wanda Harron captured more than just football on the sidelines this past season for the Regina Thunder.  She took some unbelievable action photos, but it was a moment shared between coach and player that stuck out above the others.  It's the photo that gives her the CJFL Fans Choice Photo of the Year award.

About Wanda Harron Photography

My interest in photography began in about 2009 when I purchased a used DSLR & focused mainly on nature, landscapes and wildlife.

With my son in minor football at that time, I tried my hand at some action photography to get shots of him.  From there, Estevan high school teacher Stacy Dutka invited me to shoot a basketball tournament & then I started getting asked to capture some minor hockey games.  I was hooked.

I contacted the Thunder in 2015 about shooting some games just to gain experience and the club agreed.  Been roaming the sidelines for the team since 2016.  In 2016, I approached the Regina Red Sox of the Western Canadian Baseball League.  Been regularly shooting for them now for three seasons.

Photography has become such a passion for me.  It's more than just getting that good action shot, which I still strive to do.  It's about telling a small part of a story or emotion that each game has.

I'm grateful to all those that have added to & support this passion.  I've been blessed to be asked to help capture memories for the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games, the 2018 SaskTel Tankard, the Regina Riot, countless minor hockey games, high school sports, synchronized swimming, other sports, graduations and families.

Big thanks go to my husband Dave and my son Kyle for understanding how photography feeds my soul.

Wanda is never afraid to try something new and always enjoys looking for different types of sports to stretch her photography skills.

Below is the CJFL Fans Choice Photo of the Year along with other examples of Wanda's work.  Congratulations Wanda Harron, keep up the great working covering the CJFL!
