Former Saskatoon Hilltop running back Adam Machart (pictured) highlights the 2021 East-West Bowl roster recognitions announced Wednesday by the Canadian Football League.

The roster recognitions celebrate the next generation of top Canadian football prospects, with eight former CJFL standouts identified for the 2022 CFL Draft, following completion of the 2021 Draft on May 4.

For the next year, players from both squads will vie for coveted spots on the CFL Scouting Bureau Top 20 Prospects List – published in the fall, winter and spring – before showcasing their skills through virtual or in-person regional and national combines in advance of the Draft this time next year.

Machart earned 2019 Canada West Player of the Year and First Team All-Canadian honours and was a finalist for the Hec Crighton Trophy as U SPORTS regular season MVP.

The former CJFL players on the East-West Bowl rosters are:

James Parker of the VI Raiders

Brycen Mayoh of the VI Raiders and Westshore Rebels

Dawson Davis of Valley Huskers

Jayden Dalke of the Edmonton Wildcats

David Solie of the Saskatoon Hilltops

Adam Machart of the Saskatoon Hilltops

Donovan Burgmaier of the Edmonton Huskies

Ted Kubongo of the Calgary Colts

Good luck to all eight CJFLers.

Valley Huskers Win National Contest

The Huskers received 57% of the Football Canada vote

The votes are in and the Valley Huskers have been named the best football logo in the country following the Football Canada logo contest.

Football Canada ran the logo contest during our #SupportTheSport campaign to create something fun for football fans across the country to engage with during the pandemic. The contest saw incredible engagement over the entirety of the contest with over 30,000 votes and the campaign reached over 275,000 people.

Vanisha Mistry, Communications Coordinator of Football Canada, stated  “The contest was a huge success and so much fun to run. We loved seeing everyone across the country show so much pride for their team/favourite logo.”

There were over 4000 votes in the final round and the Huskers collected 57% of the votes.

Huskers' head coach Bob Reist was the inspiration for our logo when he arrived in 2017.  He wanted to rebrand the Huskers’ culture and was looking for something with an edge that embraced the Fraser Valley and the Husker name. He reached out to his former teammate and coaching colleague John Makie, a Vanier Cup champion, and he was able to create the edge Reist was looking for.

The Valley Huskers and CJFL want to thank everyone for all their support during this contest.  The Huskers program rests solely on community support and the more involvement the stronger the program will be.

If you are interested in your own Valley Huskers logo wear, stay tuned for some exciting opportunities in the next few days.  More information can be found at ValleyHuskers.ca.

Congratulations to the Valley Huskers!

CFL Combine Results 2021

The CJFL was well represented during the virtual Combine

A total of 11 CJFL players were invited to participate in the CFL’s virtual Combine this year with results due last weekend.  Players were responsible to test themselves and submit their videos to the CFL for verification.  Of those 11 players, eight fully completed the Combine events, while one could not participate due to an injury.

These results will help CFL scouts determine which players are a good fit for their respective teams.  These 11 players are all hoping to hear their name called during the CFL Draft on May 4th.

No doubt this has been a very challenging year for all aspects of football and completing the Combine events was no different.  That said, here are the impressive results:
