For the third time in seven seasons the Langley Rams and Saskatoon Hilltops square off in the CJFL Canadian Bowl.  Kick-off is set for 1:00pm on Saturday November 17th at SMF Field in Saskatoon.

Their first meeting ever was in the 2012 Canadian Bowl at McLeod Stadium in Langley.  The Rams were making their first appearance in the national championship while the Hilltops were looking for their third straight title.

In a very even game the Hilltops scored 17 points in the second half to come back and beat the Rams 23-21 in front of a capacity crowd.    Their offence was led by a pair of quarterbacks in Matt Karpinka and Jared Andreychuk who combined for 10 completions and 192 yards.   Karpinka found the Offensive Player of the Game Graham Unruh for a 40 yard touchdown strike while Andreychuk ran for a touchdown.

The Rams meanwhile did most of their damage in the first half behind quarterback Greg Bowcott who finished 17 of 29 for 198 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes.  He found Michael Patko and Malcolm Williams who is now a member of the Toronto Argos.

With that victory the Hilltops captured their 16th Canadian Bowl title.

Just two years later the Hilltops and Rams met again in Langley for the national crown.    This time around the Hilltops broke the game open in the second quarter scoring 17 points and took a 25-7 lead into halftime and never looked back recording a 39-14 victory for their 17th Canadian Bowl title.

Both teams had outstanding defences in 2014 however it was the offences that seem to have their way combining for 925 yards and mostly through the air.

Hilltops quarterback Andreychuk finished with 17 completions for 343 yards and threw three touchdown passes.  Two of those majors were caught by the Offensive Player of the Game Evan Turkington including a 72 yard bomb.  Evan Kopchynski hauled in the other.

The Rams on the other hand used two quarterbacks.  Dylan Tucker and Jordan McCarty combined for 29 completions for 386 yards and each threw a touchdown to Williams who amassed 134 reception yards.

Here in 2018 there is only one player left from the 2014 Canadian Bowl roster.  Hilltops linebacker Adam Benkic will play in his fifth straight national championship.  He made one special teams tackle the last time the Rams and Hilltops met.

Kick-off is set for Saturday November 17th at 1:00pm at SMF Field in Saskatoon.
