The Sun,, Rams and Huskers each get the "W"

Valley Huskers 52

The Huskers won their sixth of the season despite being outgained in total offensive yards by the Rebels 475-207.  They used their offence and had a massive game from their special teams to earn the victory.

Quarterback Julian Wytinck finished 11 of 19 for 130 yards and threw two touchdowns, but also three interceptions.   He found Anthony Dyck for his Conference leading 10th touchdown reception and Brandon Poulin for his fourth.  Wytinck also rushed for a major as did Von Richardson.

On special teams the Huskers returned not one, but two kick-offs for touchdowns.   Oddly enough, both returns went 96 yards for a score.  Poulin returned one of them while Shermar Thomas had the other.

The Huskers defence even got in on the act as Josh Robinson recovered a fumble he forced and returned it 51 yards for a touchdown.   Defensive back Treyvon Walsh had two interceptions and Dawson Davis had a pair of sacks.

The Rebels scored 21 points in the second quarter; unfortunately the Huskers scored 28 in the same frame.

Quarterback Mason Brown had a solid game completing 25 passes for 275 yards and threw three touchdowns.   Jason Pyper also threw for a major.    D’Saun Greenaway was outstanding making six catches for 89 yards and had three touchdowns.  Isaiah Cardilicchia hauled in the other.

On the ground Khaliel James rushed 13 times for 108 yards and scored a touchdown.

Defensively the Rebels tallied interceptions from Connor Elliot, Christian Buckley and Maleek Womack.

Next week the Huskers (6-3) will visit the VI Raiders (5-4) while the Rebels (3-5-1) will travel to face the Okanagan Sun (6-2-1).

The Rams completely dominated the Raiders outgaining them in total offensive yards 464-141 in their sixth win of the season.
Quarterback Duncan Little was 19 of 30 for 328 yards and threw two touchdowns finding Liam Stewart and Jevon Cottoy.  Both receivers also gained over 100 yards each and Little rushed for a touchdown.

Defensively the Rams forced five turnovers and had five sacks.  Charles Nwoye had a pair of those sacks and Dawson Marchant, Brendan Kohls and Nathan Murray each picked off a pass.

The Raiders were frustrated all afternoon in each facet of the game.  Quarterback Jacob Laberge finished 10 of 24 for 127 yards but threw three interceptions.

Their lone touchdown came on special teams when Jared Braun returned a kick-off 100 yards.

Next week the Rams (6-3) will visit the Kamloops Broncos (0-9) on Saturday afternoon while the Raiders (5-4) will welcome the Valley Huskers (6-3).

In a defensive struggle the winless Broncos were three minutes away from the biggest upset in the CJFL this season.  However with time ticking away linebacker Cory McCoy caused a fumble with a bone crunching hit which Conor Richard picked up and rumbled 20 yards for a major to secure the victory.

Offensively quarterback Matthew Mahler completed 10 passes and connected with Javen Kaechele for a touchdown.

Defensively J’min Pelley had two sacks and Austin Daisy had a team high four tackles.

Broncos quarterback Reid Vankoughnett was 14 of 34 for 140 yards and threw a 24 yard touchdown pass to Darian Pritchard for their lone major.

On defence Darby Kwan had a game high seven tackles and Sam Schlitz intercepted a pass.

Next week the Sun (6-2-1) will host the Westshore Rebels (3-5-1) while the Broncos (0-9) will welcome the Langley Rams (6-3)
