The Hilltops, Thunder and Rifles each get a victory

Edmonton Huskies 16

The Hilltops used a 19 point first half to jump on the Huskies and never looked back.  With the victory they clinch first place in the Prairie Conference and will have home field advantage throughout the post season.

The offence was balanced as quarterback Jordan Walls finished 15 of 25 for 243 yards and threw three touchdowns.   Jason Price, John Brown and Keegan Dicks each hauled in a major.  Dicks caught three passes for 112 yards.  

On the ground Josh Ewanchyna carried the load rushing 27 times for 201 yards and scored a major.

Defensively the Hilltops forced 10 turnovers including three interceptions.  Jesse McNabb had a team high six solo tackles.

The Huskies were able to move the ball, but turnovers killed them.  Quarterback Tommy Yanchuk was 17 of 26 for 213 yards but threw three picks.  Brandt Burzuk was solid with 23 carries for 144 yards and scored both Huskie touchdowns.

This coming weekend the Hilltops (6-0) will visit the Edmonton Wildcats (2-4) on Sunday while the Huskies (4-2) host the Calgary Colts (0-6).

It was an exciting game that came down to the wire with the Thunder holding on for a one point win.  The Wildcats missed a 47 yard field goal at the buzzer ringing it off the crossbar.  

Thunder quarterback Brock Sich was excellent completing 20 of 36 for 300 yards and threw three touchdowns to three different receivers.  Rylan Sokul, Lee Brown and Ethan Douglas each hauled in a major.  On the ground Tristan Lockman rumbled for 144 yards on 20 carries.

On defence Braxton Turnbull led the way with a pair of sacks.

The Wildcats had a very balanced attack.  Quarterback Justin Swedish finished 10 of 21 for 180 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Jake Withrow.  Then on the ground they totalled 201 yards while Swedish and David Adebayo each rushed for a major.

Defensively Evin Kochisarli applied tremendous pressure and collected a pair of sacks.

This coming weekend the Thunder (3-3) will host the Winnipeg Rifles (3-3) and Wildcats (2-4) will welcome the Saskatoon Hilltops (6-0).

Calgary Colts 6

It was all Rifles collecting 475 yards of total offence in their third win of the season.   Quarterback Riley Naujoks finished 17 of 31 for 286 yards and threw four touchdowns connecting with his brother Brendan Naujoks, Griffin Shillingford and Tyler Hodgeson twice.  Naujoks caught five balls for 129 yards.

On the ground Brandon Urciuoli rushed 15 times for 96 yards and had a major.

Defensively the Rifles forced eight turnovers including six interceptions.    Three of those picks came from Keenan Onyebuchi who also forced a fumble.  Noah Wilson added three sacks.

The lone Colts score came on a Brandon MacIsaac touchdown reception from Dylan Pye.

This Thanksgiving weekend the Rifles (3-3) welcome the Regina Thunder (3-3) in a massive game while the Colts (0-8) visit the Edmonton Huskies (4-2).
