The Calgary Colts are coming off an up and down season.  They would make a coaching change towards the end of last season and missed the playoffs finishing 3-5.

This season they have a new attitude, new coach, new quarterback and a new outlook as they prepare to kick off on Sunday at home.  They are looking to get back to the Prairie Conference final, a game they’ve been in three of the last four seasons.

New head coach Tim Kearse is no stranger to the CJFL.  He was an assistant on the Colts staff last year and was the head coach of the Westshore Rebels in 2013.  He was also the offensive coordinator for the Rebels from 1998-2000. The 58 year old also had a taste of the NFL, playing three games with the Indianapolis Colts in 1987.  It seems fate has brought him now to the Calgary Colts.

He speaks to Ryan Watters about the upcoming year.

Head Coach: Tim Kearse (1st year)

2017 Result:  3-5 and missed the Prairie Conference playoffs

Key Departures: Bailey Wasdal, Dylan Minshull, Austin Daisy

Expected Team Strength: The youth of the Colts will be their strength in 2018.  They will have the enthusiasm to learn alongside their new head coach and be ready to open the season on Sunday

2018 Schedule Quirk:  The Colts will finish the season on the road in three of their last four games.  They will travel to Edmonton twice with a stop in Winnipeg sandwiched in between from September 22 – October 6th.
