There is renewed optimism in Edmonton as the Wildcats are ready to open the new CJFL season on Saturday night.

The Cats have won just once in the past two seasons as one of the youngest teams in the CJFL.  This year however those “young” players now enter their third season and have shown they can make a move out of the Prairie Conference basement.

Head coach Darcy Park is particularly excited entering this season as he feels his coordinators now have the experience they need to make the team successful.

Their first test will be on Saturday when they travel to Winnipeg to open the season against the Rifles.  Below Ryan Watters talks with Coach Park about the new campaign.

Head Coach: Darcy Park (20th season on coaching staff)

2017 Result: 1-7, their lone winning coming in a CJFL Interconference game beating the Hamilton Hurricanes

Starting QB: Justin Swedish (5th season)

Key Departures: Colton Hippe, Kieran Bell

Expected Team Strengths: The Wildcats defence should be the team’s strength this season led by a pair of players that were named to the CJFL Top 50 Players list; Jayden Dalke and Evin Kochisarli

2018 Schedule Quirk:  The Cats will travel into Saskatchewan only once this season when they head to the Regina Thunder on September 30th.  The following week the Saskatoon Hilltops visit the Wildcats for their lone meeting.
