The Huskers, Sun and Rebels each win

The Rebels would score nine points in the fourth quarter including a late touchdown by Nathan Falito to comeback to beat the Rams in Langley.

Mason Brown would lead the Rebels completing 13 of 24 for 213 yards and threw the touchdown to Falito in his first CJFL game. Falito was his favourite target hauling in four passes for 97 yards.

The Rebels defence held the Rams to just 35 yards on the ground and recorded a pair of sacks. Raishaun Provo led his club with four tackles while Desron Keir jumped on a fumble.

The Rams on the other hand were forced to throw after the running game stalled.  Quarterback Duncan Little was 21 of 43 for 320 yards and threw a touchdown to Joe Carter.   He would end up making three catches for a game high 103 yards.
Rams kicker Mattias Bueno was a perfect 3-3 in field goals.

Defensively the Rams collected four sacks including a pair from Partap Sandhu.   Isaiah Okoli had a game high nine tackles and JP Kalambay had the lone interception.

Next week the Rebels (1-0) will host the Okanagan Sun (1-0) on Saturday afternoon while the Rams (0-1) will travel to Chilliwack to take on the surprising Valley Huskers (1-0).

VI Raiders 31

Easily the game of the week as the Huskers ended a 31 game losing streak beating the defending Cullen Cup champion VI Raiders in a comeback.

Down 31-12 heading into the fourth quarter the Huskers offence exploded scoring 21 unanswered points to claim the victory.  Quarterback Julian Wytinck was extremely effective in his CJFL debut completing 25 of 39 for 310 yards and threw four touchdown passes, three of which to Anthony Dyck.  The other touchdown pass was hauled in by Nathan Stokes while Remis Tshiovo caught a game high seven passes for 78 yards.

In all the Huskers compiled 433 yards of total offence.

Defensively the Huskers forced four sacks and three interceptions.   Daniel Mills had two of those sacks and Sam Henneberry picked off a pass and recovered a fumble.

The defending Cullen Cup champion Raiders were stunned and were not able to finish in the fourth quarter.

Running back Rhett Williams was outstanding with a game high 112 yards on 13 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns.  Jason Henderson rumbled three yards for a major as well.

Quarterback Jacob Laberge completed just seven passes for 110 yards and threw a touchdown pass to D’Shon Dingwell.

The Raiders defence tallied three interceptions and was led by the eight tackles or Garrett Beardy.

Next week the Huskers (1-0) will host the Langley Rams (0-1) while the Raiders (0-1) welcome the Kamloops Broncos (0-1).

The Sun used a well balance attack offensively and defensively to dominate the Broncos and record the lopsided victory.

They would allow just 38 yards of net offence against them and created four turnovers.  The highlight came from Tye Kitzman who picked off a pass and returned it 56 yards for a major.  Connor Novak and Cory McCoy each had a sack.

Offensively the Sun were balanced gaining 209 yards on the ground and 209 through the air.  In all ten different players carried the rock led by Jesse Amankwaa who rushed 10 times for 42 yards and a major.    Starting quarterback Jacob Loucks completed eight passes for 127 yards and threw a touchdown, then rushed eight times for 50 yards and a major.  Backup Matthew Mahler finished six of 14 for 82 yards and also threw a touchdown.

Conor Richard added to the scoring with a 96 yard kick-off return for a touchdown.

The Broncos offence sputtered.  Rookie quarterback Reid Vankoughnett completed just four passes for 18 yards.

Their lone score came on the defensive side when Kurtis Mutschmann picked up a fumble and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown.

Next week the Sun (1-0) will travel to Westshore to take on the Rebels (1-0) while the Broncos (0-1) will visit the VI Raiders (0-1).
