The Huskers open the season on Sunday

The Valley Huskers have been in a rebuilding mode for the last number of years.  However this season they are seemingly ready to take the next step and compete each and every game.

They have not won a game since the 2014 season when they finished 1-9.  Head coach Bob Reist is determined to put that behind them and only focus on what’s in front of them rather than look back.

Coach Reist has brought in a number of players including trying to beef up the offensive line to give new quarterback Julian Wytinck time to throw.  All but one of the offensive lineman last season were first year players.  With a year under their belt they should be stronger led by 6’8, 300 pounder Teegan Beaulieu.

Head Coach: Bob Reist (2nd season)
2017 Result: 0-10
Starting QB: Julian Wytinck (University of Manitoba)

Key Departures: Tyler McStravick, Danny Harris, Marius Anghel

Key Additions: Julian Wytinck, Liam McCormick, Treyvon Walsh

Expected Team Strengths: The Huskers secondary has Coach Reist excited despite the loss of Danny Harris and his team leading three interceptions.  Reist is pleased with the players that have returned along with those who he has recruited and brought to Chilliwack.   He also says the Huskers’ aerial attack should be a strength with Wytinck solidifying the quarterback position and a good core of receivers.

2018 Schedule Quirk:  The Huskers will wrap up the season with a pair of road games, both to Vancouver Island.  They will face the Westshore Rebels on October 6, then turn around a week later and visit the VI Raiders on October 13.
