Rebel Up

The Westshore Rebels season came to an abrupt end last year on their home turf falling to their Island rivals the VI Raiders in the BC title game, crushing any thoughts of a rematch with the Saskatoon Hilltops.

This season the Rebels will look a bit different with a number of key pieces no longer with the club.  Instead Head Coach Charly Cardilicchia will rely on players he has primarily seen on film.  That said he is an excellent recruiter and will no doubt have his team ready to kick off the season on Saturday afternoon.

The Rebels bread and butter the last two seasons has been running behind a massive and talented offensive line.  Jamel Lyles and Trey Campbell enjoyed outstanding seasons, but now it will be a new name that will have to come to the forefront as both players have moved on.

They are most certainly hungry after hosting the Canadian Bowl two years ago and have the experience on the sidelines to get them back there this season.

Head Coach: Charly Cardilicchia (3rd season)
2017 Result: 9-1, first in the BC Conference, lost in the Cullen Cup title game to the VI Raiders
Starting QB: TBD

Key Departures: Scott Borden, Trey Campbell, Christian Krause

Key Additions: Mason Brown

Expected team strengths:  Coach Cardilicchia likes his receiving core with D’Saun Greenaway returning and will give their new quarterback a lethal weapon to throw to.  The Rebels always seem to be strong at the linebacker position and this year will be no different.

2018 Schedule Quirk:  The Raiders will play their Island rivals the VI Raiders in a home and home with the Labour Day bye smack dap in the middle.  They will host the Raiders on August 25th, then visit the Raiders on September 8th.
