Sue Fournier of the Westshore Rebels

The latest recipient of the CJFL Rick Smoke Volunteer Recognition Award is Sue Fournier of the Westshore Rebels.

Sue has been involved with the Rebels' Executive for 19 years, as their Secretary, Registrar, CCES Coordinator, Treasurer; as well as Merchandise Coordinator before taking on an Executive position on their Board.

Sue was the recipient in 2008 of the Rein Eberle Award from the Rebels.  She was also the co-recipient of both CJFL Executive of the Year Award in 2014.

“Junior football means giving young men the tools of learning the proper life lessons, being a family, giving back to the community, and being good role models for the young kids in the community,” says Fournier.

Over the years Sue has volunteered for other sports' groups and organizations such as:

•    Kiwanis Member for 10 years in the Esquimalt volunteering to help with many service/youth projects
•    Royal Canadian Legion (Langford Branch) - 10 years
•    1997 Canadian World Archery Championships
•    2000 Western Canadian Archery Championships
•    1994 Commonwealth Games

The entire CJFL family wishes to thank Sue for continuously making a difference with the Rebels and football on Vancouver Island. It is truly appreciated.

About the Rick Smoke Memorial Volunteer Recognition Award:

Junior football is successful because of the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. The CJFL would like to recognize these individuals.

The Rick Smoke Memorial Volunteer Recognition Award is named for former CJFL Treasurer Rick Smoke, who passed away suddenly in 2013.

Rick dedicated many years to junior football at the team and conference level, and over 25 years on the CJFL Executive as Treasurer.

This award, to honour Rick’s memory, is a tribute to celebrate and recognize the volunteers, past and present, who have dedicated a minimum of 10 years to the CJFL and junior football, whether at the team, conference or CJFL levels.

The celebrated volunteers will also be presented with a Rick Smoke Memorial Volunteers pin
