One of the most dangerous weapons in the Ontario Conference this past season was Windsor AKO Fratmen defensive lineman Adam Slikboer.   He would help the Fratmen get back to the Canadian Bowl for the first time since 1999.

He was a nuisance for opposing offences with 13 tackles and four sacks during the regular season.  In the playoffs he led the defence with eight tackles and had one and a half sacks.

The veteran was named the Ontario Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a 2017 All-Canadian.  He now becomes a member of the CJFL Class of 2017.

Why play for the Fratmen in the first place? – “I didn’t have the grades to go to University right out of high school.”

Why stay with the Fratmen for four years? – “I really enjoyed playing for Coach Morencie and coach LaChance.  They brought the fun back to football for me.”

Now that you’ve graduated from the CJFL, what’s the biggest lesson you take away? – "Not to take things for granted and to make the most of the opportunity’s presented to you.”

Each player goes through a lot during his CJFL career, how did you grow as a person? – “I have grown a lot playing in the CJFL.  Just being part of such an amazing organization, it’s really helped me develop as not only an individual but as a teammate.  The friends I have made in the past four years are some I feel I’ll have for the rest of my life.”

What’s your favourite moment of playing for the Fratmen? – “When I was invited to practice with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.  It was an amazing experience and one I’ll always remember.”

Knowing what you know now, would you change anything? “I don’t think I would change anything.  Playing for the Fratmen has opened up a lot of doors for me and has given me opportunities that I don’t think I would have received anywhere else.”

What will you miss most of all? – “I’ll miss my teammates most.  Like I said before the friendships I have made these past four years are ones I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.”

What is next for Adam Slikboer? – “I am planning on playing football at the University of Windsor and hopefully one day in the CFL.”
