A pair of lopsided scores and the CJFL's first tie of the season were all part of Week 7 in the BC Conference

Okanagan Sun 31
VI Raiders 31

Sunday afternoon produced the first tie of the CJFL season in a very exciting game.

The Raiders played an outstanding road game with a very balanced offence.  Running back Rhett Williams carried 17 times for 137 yards and a touchdown on the ground.  Through the air quarterback Jake Laberge completed 18 passes for 217 yards and hit Williams and North Rainey for touchdowns.

Defensively the Raiders didn’t give up much on the ground, holding the Sun to just 98 yards.  Quinton Bowles, Brody Taylor and Mason Kelly combined for 11 tackles and two sacks.  Tyler Hill and Travis Novak also recorded a sack and Nathan Mayers had an interception.

The Sun offence was driven by the arm of Nick Wenman.  He completed 14 passes for 250 yards and Sharmar Donelson caught four touchdown passes.

Conor Richard led the defence with eight tackles, Shaun Robinson had a pair of sacks and Tye Kitzman had an interception.

Next weekend the Sun (5-0-1) will visit the Valley Huskers (0-6) and the Raiders (3-2-1) will visit the Westshore Rebels (5-1).

Westshore Rebels 38
Kamloops Broncos 14

The Rebels offence moved the ball at will against the Broncos defence, to the tune of 549 total yards.   On the ground alone, they rushed for 330 yards led by Trey Campbell’s 15 carries and 64 yards.  Kain Stevenson rushed only once, but it was impressive as he sprinted 103 yards for the major.

Scott Borden threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns and backup Cole Theobald completed a 28 yard touchdown pass to Austin Lindbrow.

Defensively the Rebels collected eight sacks, Ovie Akpenye had two and a half of them.  Both Brandon Gandrie and Tristan Francis each had a pick.

The Broncos lone touchdown came from Brody Bernier hauling in a pass from Colby Henkel.  In all Henkel was 19 of 32 for 177 yards using six different receivers.

The Rebels (5-1) will host their Island rivals the VI Raiders (3-2-1) on Saturday night while the Broncos (1-5) will visit the Langley Rams (3-3).

Langley Rams 45
Valley Huskers 3

The Rams won their second straight game using stifling defence and a balanced offensive attack.

Quarterback Rylan Matters was 13 of 20 for 225 yards and threw three touchdown passes to Khalik Johnson.  In all, Johnson caught seven passes for 169 yards and those three majors.

On the ground eight different ball carries rushed for 133 yards and a Stephen Legare touchdown.

The defence didn’t give up much, as a matter of fact the Huskers managed only seven pass yards in the rain.  Cameron Cross had a sack and Denis Olivera had an interception.

The Huskers offence collected 63 total yards.  Their only points came from a Danny Harris 30 yard field goal.

The Rams (3-3) will host the Kamloops Broncos (1-5) late Saturday afternoon and the Huskers (0-6) will host the Okanagan Sun (5-0-1).
