Calgary Colts 22

On paper one would find the final score hard to believe.  The Colts racked up 507 yards of total offence, 372 of which was through the air. Compare those numbers to the Rifles who tallied 367 yards of total offence and the question pops up.

That said the Rifles raised their record to 3-1 as they enter a bye week.   Running back Micheal Ritchott rushed 14 times for 158 yards and had two touchdowns.  He also returned a punt 81 yards for a score.

Quarterback Riley Naujoks shared time with Jonathan Remple.  Naujok threw four completions, two of which were for touchdowns; one to Alexander Tachinski and the other to Griffin Shillingford.

On the defence Troy Bennett had a game high 10 tackles and Colin Simon had a pair of sacks.

The Colts on the other side appeared to have no problems moving the ball.  Quarterback Bailey Wasdal was 35 of 48 for 372 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Jesse Kuntz.  The major was just one of 11 receptions for Kuntz who also collected 118 yards.

Running back Dylan Minshull rushed a game high 22 times for 138 yards and a touchdown.  Wasdal also ran in a major.

The Rifles (3-1) and Colts (1-3) each have a bye heading into Week 7.

Edmonton Huskies 33
Edmonton Wildcats 0

The Huskies passing game was outstanding behind quarterback Brad Launhardt.  The reigning All-Canadian was 25 of 35 for 286 yards and threw two touchdowns; one caught by Brandt Burzuk the other by Tanner Buchanan.  Meanwhile Burzuk also rushed 15 times for 63 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive side the Huskies forced four turnovers.  Oshane Samuels had a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.  Donovan Burgmaier also recovered a fumble while Gaetano Minto intercepted a pass.

Over on the other side of the field three different Wildcat quarterbacks were 12 of 30 for 178 yards and six different receivers hauled in a pass.

The CJFL’s leading tackler Jayden Dalke tallied an incredible 14 solo tackles.  He now has 38 tackles through four games.

The Huskies (4-0) and Wildcats (0-4) enter the bye week then will face each other again coming out of the bye.
