The CJFL season officially opens on Saturday as all six BC Conference teams see action.  The night cap will feature a rematch of the Cullen Cup final from a year ago as the defending champion Westshore Rebels visit the Okanagan Sun.

This match up won’t be for the faint of heart, as these two teams simply don’t like each other.  The Rebels beat the Sun in their last two meetings of 2016 including the BC title game, while the Sun handed the Rebels their only loss of the regular season last year.

For the Rebels they have a new head coach, new quarterback and are without the CJFL Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year.  However their defence will be solid and something they should be able to hang their hat on early.

The Sun on the other hand graduated most of their weapons from a year ago.  That said, they have an established quarterback and backfield, while their defence boasts a very good secondary and linebacker core.

Ryan Watters talks with both head coaches along with Rebels offensive lineman Christian Krause and Sun quarterback Keith Zyla to get their thoughts on playing in the CJFL Game of the Week in the BC Conference.
