BCFC Defensive All-Stars

The best defensive players in the BCFC have been named

The Canadian Junior Football League in conjunction with the BC Conference are proud to announce the 2016 Defensive All-Stars.

There are four positional categories and the second place Okanagan Sun have the most representation with four players named.

The 2016 BCFC Defensive All-Stars are:

Defensive Line:

Shaiheem Charles-Brown – Langley Rams – 18 tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 8 sacks*, 2 blocked kicks, 4 knockdowns and 1 forced fumble
Kent Hicks – Westshore Rebels – 9 tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 5.5 sacks, 1 knockdown, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries
Nick Wastad – Langley Rams – 19 tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 6 sacks, 2 knockdowns and 1 fumble recovery
Jonas Gering – Okanagan Sun (second consecutive year) – 25 tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 4.5 sacks and 1 knockdown

Linebackers:

Dexter Shea – VI Raiders (second consecutive year) -38 tackles*, 15 assisted tackles, 2 knockdowns, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception
Layne Hull – Okanagan Sun – 30 tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, 3 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception
Brendan Desjardine – Langley Rams (second consecutive year) – 25 tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 0.5 sack, 3 knockdowns, 2 fumble recoveries for touchdowns** and 1 interception

Defensive Backs:

Beck Fullerton – Okanagan Sun – 15 tackles, 2 assisted tackles, 4 knockdowns, 6 interceptions, 2 returned for touchdowns over at least 70 yards
Conor Richard – Okanagan Sun – 22 tackles, 7 assisted tackles, 1 sack, 2 blocked kicks, 3 knockdowns and 3 interceptions
Josh Paisley – VI Raiders (second consecutive year) – 33 tackles, 12 assisted tackles, 1 blocked kick, 3 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble and three interceptions including a 102 yard return for a touchdown
Cole Virtanen- VI Raiders (second consecutive year) – 25 tackles, 23 assisted tackles*, 1 knockdown, 1 fumble recovery and three interceptions
Jordan Angove – Kamloops Broncos – 32 tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 5 knockdowns and 8 interceptions* including 1 for a 65 yard touchdown

Punter:

Tiernan Docherty – Langley Rams – 55 punts for a net average of 31.9 yards* including a booming 78 yard kick

**Tied a CJFL record

The BC Conference Offensive All-Stars will be announced on Tuesday.  The final four teams are preparing for the 2016 CJFL Canadian Bowl Championship Series.  On Saturday the top ranked Westshore Rebels (8-1-1) host the fourth seeded VI Raiders (5-4-1) at 7:00pm, then on Sunday the second seeded Okanagan Sun (7-3) welcome the third seeded Langley Rams (6-4) at 1:00pm.
