Former QB who played for the Huskers and Rifles

The CJFL will make history on Saturday September 17th with a pair of Interconference games as the Winnipeg Rifles visit the Valley Huskers and the Okanagan Sun welcome the Saskatoon Hilltops.  These two games are the first ever regular season games between teams in the PFC and the BCFC and will count in the standings.

When the Rifles kick-off in Chilliwack against the Huskers, it’ll be an interesting feeling for former quarterback Nate Friesen who played with both franchises.  In 2002-2003 the Winnipeg native packed his bags and moved to BC to play for the Huskers, before returning home to play for the Rifles in 2004.

Then in 2005 Friesen led the Rifles to their best ever season, leading them to the PFC title game.  He was named the CJFL’s All-Canadian quarterback, the PFC Outstanding Offensive Player, the Conference MVP and a Conference All-Star.

Friesen talks with CJFL Commissioner Jim Pankovich, remembering his time with both the Huskers and Rifles.
