The Sun, Rams and Rebels all win on Saturday

Langley Rams 29
VI Raiders 14

The BCFC Game of the Week didn’t disappoint as both defences took over the game holding each offence to 226 net yards.

The Rams were outstanding again holding the Raiders to 34 net yards in the second half.  They compiled three sacks and five turnovers.  Isaiah Stewart had two of the three sacks while Brendan Desjardine recovered a fumble and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown and had an interception.  Drew Belgrave also had a pick.

Offensively quarterback Colby Peters completed 11 of 25 passes for 125 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Khalik Johnson.

The Raiders were without starting quarterback Jacob Laberge, so back-up Kevin Chopek was called into duty.  He finished 15 of 36 for 232 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes Jared Braun.  

On the defence the Raiders tallied two sacks and Dexter Shea collected a team high five tackles.

The Rams (4-1) will welcome the Okanagan Sun (5-0) on Saturday night in a battle for first place while the Raiders (2-3) will head to Kamloops to face the Broncos (0-5) also on Saturday night.

Westshore Rebels 47
Valley Huskers 23

The Rebels used their outstanding running attack to near perfection in their fourth win of the season. Trey Campbell carried eight times for 175 yards and scored two touchdowns while Jamel Lyles rushed 16 times for 97 yards and a score.  Quarterback Ashton McKinnon was 10 of 18 for 183 yards and threw a touchdown pass to both Kain Melchior and Nathaniel Pinto.

Defensively the Rebels had two sacks and Brandon Ihanza intercepted a pass.

The Huskers offence was solid gaining 299 yards of total offence, led by quarterback Noah Falconer.  He finished 22 of 43 for 309 yards and threw three touchdown passes to Blake Draper.

Over on the defensive side the Huskers forced four fumbles and both James Sturgeon and Landon Rayburn each had a sack.

The Rebels (4-1) will host the Huskers (0-5) on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm in the second half of the home and home.

Okanagan Sun 31
Kamloops Broncos 0

The Sun defence pitched their first shutout of the season behind five sacks and five interceptions.  Jonas Gering and Elias Rodriguez each had a sack and a half, while Lucas Machado and Cody Thompson had the others.  Both Beck Fullerton and Conor Richard each had two interceptions, Fullerton returning one 72 yards for a touchdown.

Offensively quarterback Foster Martens finished 17 of 23 for 217 yards and threw a touchdown to Pierre Luc Lord.  On the ground Kasey Russell rushed for two touchdowns.

The Broncos moved the football against the Sun, just couldn’t score.  Quarterback Colby Henkel was 14 of 31 for 242 yards, but threw the five picks.

Defensively the Broncos kept it close in the first half, but tired out in the second half. Jordan Angove picked off his CJFL leading fifth interception.

The Sun (5-0) will face the Langley Rams (4-1) at McLeod Stadium on Saturday night while the Broncos (0-5) will host the VI Raiders (2-3).
