The Sun, Rams and Rebels each win

Week 4 was an exciting one in the BCFC with big plays on both sides of the ball.  The Sun remain undefeated while the Rams and Rebels keep pace with their third wins of the season.

The score is not indicative on how close this game was as both teams were outstanding. The Sun gathered 303 yards of total offence led by quarterback Foster Martens who finished 15 of 23 for 200 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Lliam Wishart and ran for one as well.  The ground game tallied 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Sun defence forced five turnovers and Conor Richard blocked a punt that Raquille Cespedes ran back 15 yards for a touchdown.  Layne Hull, Lucas Machado and Elias Rodriguez recorded sacks.

The Raiders were led by rookie quarterback Jacob Laberge completing 11 passes for 212 yards and threw a 79 yard touchdown to Dustin Rodriguez.  Laberge also run for a touchdown.

Parker Smith tallied the lone sack, while the defence forced three turnovers including by Alex Eberling and Cole Virtanen.

The Sun (4-0) will host the Kamloops Broncos (0-4) on Saturday night, and the Raiders (2-2) host the Langley Rams (3-1) Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.

Valley Huskers 16

The Rams offence dominated collecting 583 yards of total offence including 364 of it through the air.  Quarterbacks Stephen Legare and Colby Peters combined for 13 completions and three touchdowns to three different receivers; Khalik Johnson, Ryan MacDonald and Nick Agnoletto.  The running attack was outstanding gaining 252 yards, Joe Carter leading the charge with 125 yards on 11 carries.

The defence was punishing allowing just 18 yards on the ground.

Due to the lack of run game, the Huskers were forced to throw.  Quarterback Noah Falconer completed 23 of 47 for 248 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Mike West and his brother Elijah Falconer.

The Huskers defence forced five turnovers; Travis Dietrich, Landon Rayburn and Brett Boyce each recovered a fumble.  Boyce and Mason Paleck each tallied a sack.

The Rams (3-1) will hit the road to face the Vi Raiders (2-2) on Saturday afternoon and the Huskers (0-4) host the Westshore Rebels (3-1).

Kamloops Broncos 32

It was a good old fashion shootout in Kamloops as both offences combined for 1,084 total yards and 42 points in the second quarter alone.

The Rebels gathered 602 yards, including an impressive 416 on the ground.  Jamel Lyles rushed 26 times for 238 yards and three touchdowns while Trey Campbell carried 10 times for 158 yards and a score.  Quarterback Scott Borden was 15 of 21 for 201 yards and threw touchdown passes to Nathaniel Pinto and Campbell.

Kent Hicks collected two sacks and Kevin Gabriel had one on the defensive side.  Coulton Bousquet picked off a pass.

Broncos’ quarterback Colby Henkel completed 22 passes for 401 yards and threw three touchdown passes to Colin Mather, Austin Semeniuk and Broden Romanovitch.

Defensively the Broncos forced four turnovers and both Jordan Angove and Jesse Zajaros each had six stops.

The Rebels (3-1) will visit the Valley Huskers (0-4) on Saturday afternoon, while the Broncos (0-4) travel to the Okanagan to take on the Sun (4-0) on Saturday night.
