Lloydminster will play home today

This afternoon the Regina Thunder and the Edmonton Wildcats will play in the first PFC exhibition game this season.

Today’s game will take place in Lloydminster, “Canada’s Border City,” at Holy Rosary high school.   The venue is a nice halfway point between Regina and Edmonton and has a very strong football community.

The two clubs have retooled and are ready to smash heads with someone in a different colour uniform.   This game will give the coaching staff one last chance to evaluate their talent in preparation for Week 1 of the regular season which kicks off next weekend.  This also gives the players one last chance to win a job.

Both the Thunder and Wildcats will have a new quarterback at the helm during the regular season and this will give the hopeful starters a chance to audition at “real game speed.”

The Thunder are coming off a semi-final loss last season on their home turf, while the Wildcats won just once in 2015.

During the regular season, these two teams face each other once, and not until the regular season finale on October 16 in Edmonton.

Next weekend the Wildcats open the PFC season on Saturday night at home when they will welcome the Calgary Colts at 7pm, while the Thunder are also at home on Sunday afternoon at 1pm against the Edmonton Huskies.
