The CJFL was well represented on Monday at the CFL Regional Combine in Edmonton, with three players with CJFL ties standing out and getting invited to the National Combine in Toronto this weekend.

Brennan Van Nistelrooy of the Okanagan Sun is off to the CFL’s National Combine following an outstanding day in Edmonton at the Regional Combine.

The Sun co-MVP tallied a blazing 6.95 seconds through the 3-cone drill, which was the fastest of any of the 41 players invited.

His other results are as follows:
40 yard dash – 7.43
Bench – 13
Vertical – 35
Broad jump – 9-9.5
Shuffle – 4.21

Calgary Colts linebacker Alex Ogbongbemiga is one of two linebackers heading to Toronto next weekend.  He didn’t excel in any one drill but did enough to earn an invitation. He follows in the footsteps of current Argos safety Jermaine Gabriel who played for the Colts three years ago.

His results are:
40 yard dash – 4.91
Bench – 16
Vertical – 34
Broad jump – 9-3
Shuffle – 4.30
3-Cone – 7.34

Boyd Richardson who played with the Regina Thunder also received an invitation after an outstanding day.  The defensive lineman helped the UBC Thunderbirds to a Vanier Cup this past season.

His results are:
40 yard dash – 4.92
Bench – 27
Vertical – 33.5
Broad jump – 9-6.75
Shuffle – 4.45
3-Cone – 7.45

The CFL’s National Combine is set for this coming weekend in Toronto and will feature 36 draft hopeful players.

Last season one CJFL player was invited out of the Edmonton Regional Combine and went onto be selected in the CFL Draft.  Dexter Janke of the Okanagan Sun was drafted in the fifth round by the Calgary Stampeders.

The CFL Draft is set for May 10th with the Saskatchewan Roughriders holding onto the #1 pick.
