15 players with CJFL ties will be at the Combine

The CFL has announced its list of attendees for their Regional Combine in Edmonton and 15 current or former CJFL players have been invited.

The Combine begins on March 7th and is the first of three regional showcases which will test a player’s skill set, talent and athleticism.

The CJFL players attending are:

WR Devin Csincsa (Broncos) – Coming off an outstanding season Csincsa gets his first crack at showing CFL scouts the kind of receiver he has developed into.  During the regular season he led the CJFL with 1,102 receiving yards on 67 receptions, averaging 16.4 yards a catch and scored eight touchdowns.

DL Donovan Dale (Hilltops) – A standout with the Saskatoon Hilltops, in 2015 Dale played for the University of Saskatchewan making 30 tackles, 12 assists, had eight sacks and forced three fumbles.

OL Drew Digout (Sun) – A former Okanagan Sun, Digout has been playing the last three seasons with the University of Saskatchewan helping the Huskies to a dominating running attack.

DB Chris Friesen (Hilltops) – Following an outstanding junior career with the Hilltops Friesen made the jump to the University of Saskatchewan  and in 2015 he made 24 tackles, four assists, recovered a fumble and made four interceptions.

WR Kyle Kawamoto (Sun) – He spent just one year in the BCFC but it was an impactful one.  He helped get the Sun back to the Canadian Bowl for the first time since 2004 with 41 receptions, 1,005 yards and 10 touchdowns.  He had a BCFC best 24.5 yards per reception.  In the Canadian Bowl he made eight receptions for 150 yards.

RB Andre Lalonde (Hilltops) – After a highly decorated junior career with the Saskatoon Hilltops, he has played the last two seasons with the University of Saskatchewan.  In 2015 he carried 20 times for 80 yards and scored a touchdown.  He also recorded three kick returns for 26 yards.

LS Andrew Maclean (Huskies) – He was one of the stars for the Huskies in 2015 and will look to impress at the Edmonton Regional Combine in his own backyard.

DB Jordan Nugent (Grizzlies) – He was outstanding in the OFC for the GTA Grizzlies in 2015 and will look to impress at the Toronto Regional Combine.

LB Alex Ogrongbemiga (Colts) – He helped the Colts defence be one of the most feared in 2015 and played in the PFC title game for the second straight year.  He collected 18 tackles, four assists. Had one sack and one knockdown.

WR Dustin Pedersen (Raiders) – He was a very dangerous weapon for the VI Raiders during his junior career and has been equally dangerous for the University of Manitoba Bisons.  In 2015 Pedersen made 22 receptions for 385 yards and scored three majors.

OL Eric Permann (Huskies) – He had an outstanding season on the line for the Edmonton Huskies which certainly impressed the scouts with an invitation to the Combine in his own backyard.

RB Wayndel Lewis (Hilltops) – He was simply unbelievable in the 2014 season with the Saskatoon Hilltops, rushing for over 1,000 and was named the CJFL Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year, before an injury cut his playoff season short.  He’s healthy coming into this Combine.

OL Alex Pennell (Raiders) – A former VI Raider, Pennell helped the UBC Thunderbirds to a CIS National championship in 2015.

DB Brennan Van Nistelrooy (Sun) – The BCFC’s Defensive Player of the Year, Van NIstelrooy was outstanding this past year colleting 19 tackles, four assists, blocked two kicks, two knockdowns, recovered a fumble and had a CJFL leading six interceptions.

WR Ryan Watt-Dennis (Predators) - He was outstanding in the OFC for the Grand River Predators in 2015 and will look to impress at the Toronto Regional Combine.

Each of these 15 players are hoping to be invited to the National CFL Combine in Toronto held from March 11-13th.  Last year Dexter Janke of the Okanagan Sun went through this exact same process before being drafted by the Calgary Stampeders.
