The Colts and Rifles claim a W in Week 7

Week 7 in the PFC saw a pair of games as the Calgary Colts and Winnipeg Rifles won on their home turf.

COLTS 37 - HUSKIES 17

The Colts used a balanced attack to win their fourth of the campaign 37-17 over the Edmonton Huskies.

Quarterback John Kiesman was 16 of 23 for 241 yards and threw a pair of touchdown strikes.  Eight different receivers caught passes, let by Xavier Ramsay’s five catches and 86 yards.  Both Dangelo Knox and Kyle Brick hauled in the touchdown passes.  Kisman rushed eight times for 76 yards and a scored a touchdown.

Ramsay also led the ground game, rushing eight times for 110 yards and a score.  In all the ground game rushed for 260 yards while the air attack tallied 252 yards.

Defensively the Colts clammed down on the Huskies, allowing just six points in the second half.  Colton Burr had his best game of the season making seven tackles and two knockdowns.  Alex Ogbongbemiga was also busy with five stops and two assisted tackles.

The Colts (4-2) will host the Regina Thunder (4-2) on Sunday at 1:00pm with playoff positioning on the line.

After the loss and a Rifles win the Edmonton Huskies find themselves on the outside looking in on the 2015 post season.  Quarterback Bradley Launhardt finished 17 of 34 against the Colts for 239 yards.

He found six different receivers as Yannick L’Abbe, Brennan McNeil and Jimmie Airey each caught four passes.

On the ground Airey rushed a game high 23 times for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Kicker Cole Sabourin continues to the lead the PFC, connecting on three more field goals including a 37 yarder.

Defensively the Huskies saw another great game by Brandon Mellen who made five stops  Hayward Beasley collected the only sack of the game and Jacob Battenfelder recovered a fumble.

The Huskies (1-5) need a win on Saturday to stay alive and will host the Winnipeg Rifles (2-4) at noon.

RIFLES 35 - WILCATS 32

Speaking of the Rifles, they recorded their second win of the season beating the Edmonton Wildcats 35-32 despite a serge by the visitors who scored 15 points in the final 5:30 to bring the game close.

Rifles running back Michael Ritchott was outstanding rushing 17 times for 175 yards and scored a touchdown.  Odun Ogidan also ran for a major.

Quarterback Jonathan Remple completed nine of 15 passes for 132 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns finding Ian Lee and Alexander Tachinski from 34 yards out.

The Rifles “D” was led by defensive back Michael Penner and his six tackles and a knockdown.  They forced four turnovers as Temmy Okadele, Andrew Ricard and David Rhodes each picked off a pass while Timothy Demidiuk recovered a fumble.

Saturday the Rifles (2-4) will be in Edmonton to face the Huskies (1-5) at noon.

The Edmonton Wildcats have now lost five straight but made Sunday’s game in Winnipeg exciting with 18 points in the second half, 15 of which in the final 5:30 minutes.

Quarterback Jordan Olson was 19 of 43 for 359 yards, threw a pair of touchdowns. He also ran for a major on seven carries.  Both Ronnie Oling and Ryan Smith caught touchdowns, Smith leading the way with four catches and 93 yards.

Defensively the Cats were led by Tafara Newutambwe and his six tackles, a knockdown and an interception.  Both Armand Katamba and Bray Josue recovered fumbles and Travis Loov and Matt Zarowny tallied a sack.

This coming Sunday the Wildcats (1-5) have a tall task, looking to snap their losing skid at home against the Saskatoon Hilltops (6-0).  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm.
