The Wildcats host the Colts in a battle of Alberta

The Game of the Week in the PFC will be in Edmonton as the 1-1 Wildcats host the 1-1 Calgary Colts in the lone Saturday game.

Last weekend the Colts got their first win of the season, blowing out the Edmonton Huskies, on the same field where they will play this weekend against the Wildcats.   Also last weekend the Wildcats suffered their first set back, falling in Regina.

Offensively both teams are fairly similar, trying to find their identity.  The Colts have scored 69 points, most of those coming in the 59-10 victory last week, while the Thunder have tallied 49 points.

Colts quarterback John Kiesman has 10 more completions than Wildcats pivot Jordan Olson and 86 more yards.  Both players have thrown an interception, while Kiesman has thrown six touchdown passes to Olson’s three.

Both Kiesman and Olson have zeroed in on one receiver.  Kyle Brick of the Colts is one of only two PFC receivers with at least 10 receptions.  He has 166 yards and leads all receivers with four majors.   On the other side of the field the Wildcats’ Brandon Olson leads his club with six receptions and 132 yards along with two touchdowns.

The ground attack for either team has started rolling quite yet.  Both clubs have one rusher in the PFC’s top 10.  Bray Josue of the Cats has carried the rock 15 times for 173 yards, while the Colts’ quarterback Kiesman leads his team with 13 carries for 108 yards.

Defensively the Wildcats have given up more than the Colts.  In the first two games the Wildcats have allowed 96 points, an average of 48 points, while the Colts have given 41 points, or just over 20 a game.

The Colts “D” leads the PFC with 10 takeaways, including six interceptions, three of which by Owen Redlick.  The Wildcats have just three takeaways, two of them on downs.

Jayden Dalke of the Wildcats is the only player with at least 10 tackles this year, to go along with his Conference leading 31 defensive points.

These two teams will face each other twice over the next three weeks.  On September 19 the Colts will host the Wildcats.
In their last two meetings in Edmonton, they have each won once.  Last year the Colts claimed a 34-6 victory, part of their four game winning streak. Back in 2013 the Wildcats won 29-8, kicking off a three game winning streak.

With a victory on the weekend and depending on the other games, one of these teams could move into a first place tie.  Kick-off from Clarke Park is scheduled for 7:00pm on Saturday.
