Four PFC teams will battle on Saturday

The PFC Pre-Season kicks off this weekend with a pair of exhibition games.

In Edmonton the Wildcats and Huskies will square off in the first of three meetings this season on Saturday at 1:00pm at Foote Field.    Granted this game won’t count in the standings, but it’ll be the first time either side will hit someone other than a teammate in a game situation.

This will be a unique match-up as these clubs will meet again next Saturday (August 15) to open the PFC regular season.  Both head coaches Darcy Park and Iain McLean will no doubt play a very vanilla game and not give too much away.

Last season these two teams each won once.  The Wildcats in Week 6, 51-18 before the Huskies won in Week 7, 50-36.

Both Edmonton teams missed the post season after the Wildcats finished 3-5 and the Huskies 2-5-1.

Saturday afternoon will give both coaching staffs an opportunity to see the players in live game situations before Week 1 the following week.

The Calgary Colts and Regina Thunder will also play a pre-season game this Saturday, as they will square off in Medicine Hat at the Methanex Bowl at 7:00pm.

This is a rematch of last season’s semi-final when the Colts upset the Thunder on route to the PFC title game.  In 2015 they won’t face each other until Sunday October 4th.

In their lone regular season match-up last year the Colts claimed a 20-13 victory in Regina on September 28th.

Both the Thunder and Colts return a number of players from last season and have actively recruited for this year, wanting to add depth to most of their positions.

The Thunder and Colts will open the regular season the following weekend.  The Thunder host the Winnipeg Rifles on August 15th, while the Colts host the Saskatoon Hilltops on August 16th.
