Hamilton visits Windsor

CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW

The AKO Fratmen and Hamilton Hurricanes will once meet in the OFC Championship game but this year it’s back in Windsor. This will be the third time the two have battled for the Championship in the past four years.

Regular Season Meetings:
During the regular season Hamilton and Windsor met twice, and split the games 1-1. In week 2 the AKO Fratmen headed to Hamilton where the Hurricanes would hold the Fratmen to just 6 points and take the game 22-6.

In their second meeting the Hurricanes were in Windsor, where they led 12-0 before the weather would post pone the duration of the game to two weeks later. During continuation of the game the Fratmen held the Hurricanes off to just a couple of points in order to take the win 16-14 and take first place in the OFC.

Semi Final Match ups:
The Hamilton Hurricanes headed to Ottawa to take on the Sooners, where they would take control of the game from start to finish. The Sooners wouldn’t make it onto the board until late in the fourth which would give Hamilton a 28-7 win.

As for the Fratmen they hosted the London Beefeaters. The Beefeaters wouldn’t get on the board until just two minutes before the end of the first half. London would come within one score, but it was the closet they could get to the Fratmen as a late touchdown from Brandon Donkers would give the Fratmen a comfortable lead. AKO earned a 30-17 win over London.

Previous Playoff Meetings:

Both Hamilton and Windsor have both hosted an OFC title against each other… but have yet to win the trophy on home field against each other. In 2011 the Fratmen hosted Hamilton… but were unable to hold Hamilton off as they dropped 42-6.

Most recently, the AKO Fratmen headed to Hamilton just last year, where they would be the first on the board, and keep the lead in order to take the win 16-9.

With a strong history between the Fratmen and Hurricanes it’s no surprise these two are once again back in the Championship to battle for the Teddy Morris Memorial Trophy.  The game will be broadcasted live from Windsor Stadium courtesy of Windsor-Essex tv airing on we-tv.ca. The Pregame show will start at 6:30 with the game to follow at 7.
