Hamilton Hurricanes visit the Ottawa Sooners

The Ottawa Sooners ended the season with a win over the Burlington Braves to finish with a 7-1 record and in second place in the OFC. As for the Hamilton Hurricanes they finished off the season with a 6-2 record with a comeback win over the London Beefeaters.

The Hamilton Hurricane’s first loss of the season was to the Ottawa Sooners at home in week 4. The Sooners would score the only touchdown of the game as it came from Scott McGarrity. The only points for the Hurricanes came from kicker Danny Cerino who was successful on two field goal attempts.

The Sooners last playoff run was in 2012, when they played the Hamilton Hurricanes in the semi-finals. The Hurricanes knocked Ottawa out of the playoffs with a 36-28 final. It was just a couple of years before that in 2010 when the Hurricanes beat the Sooners in the Championship 21-17.

Ottawa’s last successful year in the playoffs was in 2009 when they won the Championship over the St. Leonard Cougars.

As for Hamilton, they hosted the Championship game last year when the Fratmen took home the trophy. The Hamilton Hurricanes won back-to-back championships in 2010 and 2011.

Kickoff is 7pm at Keith Harris Stadium in Ottawa.
