The BCFC Cullen Cup title game is set as the Okanagan Sun will host the Langley Rams on Sunday afternoon after two exciting semi-finals in which three of the four teams scored over 45 points.

The CJFL playoffs began in Langley on Saturday afternoon as the Rams squeaked by the Kamloops Broncos 48-46 in a back and forth game.

The Rams scored 31 points in the first half and looked to be in the drive seat until an excited come back by the Broncos.

The ground attack of the Rams rushed for 268 yards, led by Nathan Lund and his 15 carries for 185 yards and a touchdown.  Jacob Patko and Jordan McCarty also rushed for touchdowns.

McCarty only completed eight passes but collected 232 yards and threw three touchdowns.   Malcolm Williams led the way with three catches for 73 yards and a score, Patko also caught three for 33 yards and touchdown, while Dan English scored on a 78 yard major.

Defensively the Rams were good in the first half, but showed struggled in the second half.  John Beckerleg picked off the only pass and Tore Corrado and Brock Gowanlock recovered fumbles.  Gowanlock and Dylan Roper each had a pair of sack and Alex Agnoletto had one.

With the win the Rams punch their ticket to the Cullen Cup for the fourth consecutive year and will travel to face the Okanagan Sun on Sunday.

The Kamloops Broncos had their best season in franchise and saved their best game for last collected 653 yards of total offense, 543 of which was through the air.

Quarterback Steve Schuweiler completed 28 of 45 and threw four touchdown passes.  He also rushed for two touchdowns. Derek Yachison caught eight passes for 178 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Devin Csincsa hauled in 10 passes for 144 yards and a score.  Cory Rollings caught the other major.

On the ground Jacob Palmarin carried 13 times for 113 yards.

Defensively the Broncos didn’t create a turnover.  Kyle Richardson had a game high six solo tackles and Curtis Dingwall had the lone sack.

The Broncos set a number of team records this season and including their first ever six win season.

On Sunday hosted their arch rival the Vancouver Island Raiders and claimed a 47-16 blowout victory, snapping a six game playoff losing streak to the Raiders.

The Sun had a well balanced attack, recording 243 yards through the air and 233 on the ground.

Quarterback Cam Bedore finished 12 of 18 for 226 yards and threw two long touchdown passes.  He connected with Thomas Huber five times for 86 yards and a 51 yards touchdown strike.  Bedore also hit Lerone Robinson for a 74 yard touchdown.

On the ground Alex Bradley, the BCFC rushing champ, carried eight times for 79 yards and had two touchdowns, including a 69 yard scamper.  Dillon Fortune carried seven times for 75 yards and scored on a 61 yard major.

The Sun defense created six turnovers and seven sacks.  Robbie Yochim picked off a pass while Brennan Van Nistelrooy and Chris Pereira had fumble recoveries.  Rookie Elias Rodriguez recovered a fumbled punt in the end zone for his first career touchdown. 

Zac Ironstand collected three sacks, while Lucas Machado, Pereira, Matt McConnel and Ron Mwamba each had one.

The Sun will host the 2014 Cullen Cup title game for the first time since 2010.  They will host the Rams on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm.

The VI Raiders season comes to a close losing six games, most in franchise history.

The BCFC’s All-Star quarterback Liam O’Brien was under constant pressure finishing 18 of 34 for 233 yards and a late touchdown strike to Marshall Cook.  The BCFC’s top receiver had four catches for 68 yards while Nathan Berg caught four passes for 58 yards. O’Brien hit eight different receivers.

The Raiders run game collected just 97 yards as Michael Ritchott rushed five times for 46 yards.  Berg recorded a one yard touchdown plunge.

Defensively Dylan Chapdelaine made a game high six tackles in his final game.  Ash Gayat and Nathan Warawa each had a sack.

The BCFC Cullen Cup championship game kick-offs at 1:00pm on Sunday at the Apple Bowl as the Sun host the Rams in a battle of the top two teams in the Conference.  The winner will host the 2014 Canadian Bowl.
