According to passer efficiency ratings, the top two quarterbacks in the PFC will square off on Sunday when the Hilltops host the Rifles in one of two semi-finals this weekend..

Tyler Vieira (21) of the Rifles followed in the footsteps of graduated quarterback Ryan Marsch and led the PFC through the air during the regular season.  With two of the top PFC receivers like Kurt Goodrich and Niclas Bembenek, why wouldn’t he?  Vieira finished 123 of 207 for 1,915 and threw a Conference high 14 touchdown passes.  His passer efficiency rating was the best in the Conference at 86.5% while he collected a 59.4% completion percentage.

Jared Andreychuck (20) had a solid year in an offense that focuses on the ground game.  Andreychuck completed 99 of 201 passes for 1,624 yards and connected on 11 touchdown strikes.  He completed 49.3% of his passes and tallied an 84.7% passer efficiency rating, just two percentage points behind his semi-final counterpart Vieira.

The other PFC semi-final between the Thunder and Colts also have two very even quarterbacks.

Jaeden Marwick (19) of the Thunder was hurt and didn’t play in the final two games of the regular season.  He finished 116 of 183, collecting a Conference high 63.4% completion percentage while recording seven touchdown passes and 1,448 yards.  Out of the four PFC quarterbacks in the playoffs, Marwick has the lowest passer efficiency rating of 75.6%.

Brett Hunchuk of the Colts hasn’t played every down this season in a platooning role early on.  He finished with just 55 completions, the lowest of all the starters in the PFC playoffs.  Those 55 completions collected 784 yards and six touchdowns.  His pass efficiency rating is 81.9% and completion percentage is just over 53%

The PFC semi-finals will stretch two days.  The Thunder (2) host the Colts (3) on Saturday night, while the Hilltops (1) welcome the Rifles (4) on Sunday afternoon.
