With Week 10 of the BCFC season in the books, the playoff picture is starting to become clearer as the Okanagan Sun, VI Raiders and Valley Huskers each recorded wins.

The Sun captured first place and home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a 37-20 victory over the visiting Langley Rams on Sunday.  The Sun “D” and Special Teams again stood tall in the victory.

The defense held the Rams running attack to just 75 yards and caused 10 turnovers.  Linebacker Ron Mwamba was a man on mission intercepting a pass, recovered a fumble, led the club with six solo tackles and knocked a pass down.  Matt McConnell, Nick Schroeder and Layne Hull also recovered fumbles.

Wes Geisler intercepted a pass, as did Robbie Yochim, his fourth of the season.  Dexter Janke and Jeff Mock clipped in with three tackles each.

The “D” also created three turnovers on downs.

Yochim, who set a Canadian Junior Football League record last week with three punt returns for touchdowns, was at it again.  Sunday afternoon the fifth year veteran returned two kick-offs for touchdowns, of 105 yards and 95 yards.

Offensively the Sun running attack was simply awesome. Alex Bradley rushed 20 times for 154 yards and scored on a 50 yard dash.  The BCFC’s leading rusher Dillon Fortune carried six times for 38 yards.  Kasey Russell scored his seventh major of the season on a one yard plunge.

In all, the run game collected 207 yards, while the passing attack gathered 112 yards with Josiah Joseph finishing 4 of 10, but threw two interceptions.  Jesse Kendall and Kyle Patchell each made a critical catch of 45+ yards.

The Sun (8-1) will now host the Kamloops Broncos (6-3) in the regular season finale on Sunday afternoon at the Apple Bowl.

The Langley Rams had a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but scored just 10 more points the rest of the way, losing for the third time this season.

Their passing attack was solid as Jordan McCarty, starting just this third game this season, finished 18 of 39 for 239 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns.  His favourite target was Dan English who made four catches for 107 yards and a major.  Malcolm Williams hauled in three passes for 55 yards and a score.

On the ground, the Rams didn’t have much success.  The reigning Offensive Player of the Week, Nathan Lund carried 10 times for 38 yards, while Jordan Traversy rushed four times for 37 yards.

Kicker Steve Thomas added to his Conference leading points, nailing two field goals, each from 23 yards away.

The defense recorded four turnovers as John Beckerleg intercepted his Conference leading fifth pass and Ethan Schulz had one of his own.  Clovis Lumeka jumped on a fumble.

Brandon Klein and Alex Agnoletto were solid on the Rams line each making seven solo tackles.  Dylan Roper recorded his 10th sack, leading the BCFC.

The Rams (6-3) will conclude their regular season on Saturday night at 7:00pm in Chlliwack against the Valley Huskers (1-8).

The VI Raiders nailed down the fourth and final playoff spot on Saturday night with a 45-15 victory over the Kamloops Broncos at Hillside Stadium.

The Raiders executed a well balanced attack with 307 yards on the ground and 234 through the air.

Michael Ritchott carried a game high 12 times for 113 yards and a major.  Taylor Flavel sprinted 75 yards for a touchdown, and Nathan Berg scored his sixth touchdown of the season.

Quarterback Liam O’Brien completed 12 of 20 for 239 yards and threw three touchdowns.  Marshall Cook caught three balls for 91 yards, while Dustin Rodriguez, Arthur Fabbro and Flavel all hauled in majors.

On the defensive side the Raiders forced four turnovers.  Dexter Shea intercepted two passes and had a pair of sacks.  Nigel Henry picked off a pass and led the club with four solo tackles and had a sack.  Ash Gayat recovered a fumble.

The Raiders (4-5) will conclude the regular season on Saturday afternoon at home when they host their Island rivals, the Westshore Rebels (2-7) at 1:00pm.

The Kamloops Broncos fall for the second time this season at home dispute collecting 338 yards through the air.

Quarterback Steve Schuweiler finished 23 of 35 and threw a pair of touchdown strikes.  Both majors were caught by Devin Csincsa who collected 162 yards on eight catches.  Both Derek Yachison and Jesse Neufeld made four catches.

On ground the Broncos didn’t have much success compiling 61 yards, led by Jacob Palmarin’s 46 yards on seven carries.

Defensively the Broncos were led by Caleb Goudie and his four solo tackles.  Aaron Smit forced the lone turnover, picking off a pass.

On Sunday the Broncos (6-3) will visit the Okanagan Sun (8-1) to conclude the regular season.

The Valley Huskers collected their first win of the season, beating the Westshore Rebels 39-28 on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskers played their best game of the year getting scoring from all three phrases of the game.  The offense collected 406 yards, as quarterback Dylan LaPrairie finished 12 of 23 for 304 yards, threw three touchdown passes and scored one with his feet.  He found Tyron Ledingham five times for 135 yards and a major, while both passes Keenan Godden caught were for touchdowns.

On Special Teams kicker Dan Erickson connected on a 32 yard field goal.

Defensively Jesse Deering picked up a fumble and rumbled 28 yards for a touchdown.  Jesse Smith also recovered a fumble while Daniel Mills picked off a pass.  Dylan Boykowich had an impressive game with seven tackles and a sack.

The Huskers (1-8) will conclude the regular season on Saturday night when they host the Langley Rams (6-3).

The Westshore Rebels outgained the Huskers by over 100 yards of total offense but couldn’t make them on the scoreboard.

Quarterback Hunter Lake had another terrific game with his arm and his legs accounting for all four touchdowns.  He finished 23 of 47 for 349 yards and threw two touchdown passes.  Both Jordan Rodinsky and Griffin Dear each caught a major, while Bryce Mosely had eight catches for 102 yards.

Lake rushed 13 times for 101 yards and scored two more majors.

On the defensive side of the ball, Chris Pastro and Tanner Rodinsky each made four tackles and Braeden Swatez intercepted a pass.

The Rebels (2-7) will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they make a visit to Nanaimo to face the Raiders (4-5) at 1:00pm.
