The Gordie Howe Bowl is upgraded

The Saskatoon Hilltops have been playing home games at the Gordie Howe Bowl since 1960.  Countless championships have been played and won over the years on this very field, making it one of the, if not the most storied field in CJFL history.

Some things age well over time, like wine.  A football field is not on that list.  Thanks to a persistent committee the Gordie Howe Bowl is finally getting a facelift and on Saturday night the Hilltops will unveil it!

The all-new “Saskatoon Minor Football Field” for starters will have a new turf field, new lights, scoreboard and sound system.   A new clubhouse facility and entrance plaza is also in the works once the team secures enough funding.

The renovations are just the beginnig and the work is not complete.

The new field will open on Saturday night at 7:00pm following a ceremonial kick-off, then the Hilltops will host the Regina Thunder, part of the CJFL’s Rivalry Week.

Ryan Watters (@ryan2tswatters) talks with Hilltops Past President and committee member Allen Gibb about the renos.
