Kamloops Broncos @ Langley Rams

The BCFC Game of the Week will feature a couple of 3-1 teams duke it out in Langley as the Rams host the Kamloops Broncos on Sunday at 7:00pm.

Both teams are coming off their first loss of the season.  The Rams dropped a heartbreaker in Nanaimo, where they were leading heading into the final quarter, while the Broncos were blown out at home.

This game could be an aerial assault with 22 touchdown passes between the two quarterbacks and five receivers in the Top 12 yardage.

The Rams have a number of weapons that can score in a hurry.  Quarterback Dylan Tucker leads the Conference with a 130.8% passer efficiency rating.  The first year QB is 53 of 83 for 1,015 yards and has 11 touchdown passes which is a share of the Conference lead.  He has spread the ball around nicely as three receivers have caught at least 12 balls.  Dan English and Malcolm Williams have caught 14 and Tore Corrado has hauled in 12.  The “Big 3” are averaging better than 19 yards a catch.

The Broncos on the other hand can be equally lethal.  Quarterback Steve Schuweiler is completing 50.7% of his passes, connecting on 70 of 138 for 1,131 yards and 11 touchdowns.  His pass efficiency rating is 83.9% and owns the Conference high 106 yard TD reception.  His “Big 3” come in the form of Derek Yachison, Rudy Uhl and Devin Csincsa.  Yachison has caught 21 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns, Uhl has made 12 catches for 244 yards and four majors while Csincsa who didn’t play last weekend has 12 catches for 155 yards and three TDs.

On the ground, give the edge to the Broncos through their first four games as Aaron Morran and Jacob Palmarin have combined for 544 yards and four touchdowns.  The Rams will counter with Nathan Lund and Ryan MacDonald who have collected 208 yards and don’t have a major.

As most game do, this one could come down to defense.  The Broncos have given up 111 points, 54 of which was last week, while the Rams have allowed 124 points, but 52 last weekend.

The Rams have a +6 in the takeaway/giveaway category, while the Broncos are a -1.  Rams’ defensive back John Beckerleg leads the Conference with three interceptions.

Linebacker Mike Ochoa leads the Broncos with 16 solo tackles and has a 20 yard pick six.  Oddly enough the Rams do not have a player with more than nine solo tackles, Ethan Schulz has nine tackles, while Dylan Roper leads the Conference with 5.5 sacks.

On Special Teams the big question is will the Broncos kick to Beckerleg?  Last weekend he set a new Canadian Junior Football League record with his fourth kick-off return for a touchdown.  He has returned 13 kick-offs for 618 yards, setting a new Rams team record.

The Broncos have never beaten the Rams in Langley.  Since 2007 the Broncos are 0-6 on the road being outscored 294-83.  The Rams own the All-Time series 10-1.  The only Broncos victory was in 2010 in Kamloops 13-5.

Kick-off is set for 7:00pm on Sunday at McLeod Stadium in Langley.
