Going into the 2013 season Huskie receiver Sam Schwab knew that it would be his last season wearing the Black and Gold but did not want it to be his last playing football.  “I wanted to continue to play ball but was not sure if the school route was the way I wanted to go.  I have always wanted to travel and when Coach MacLean called me with this opportunity my decision was pretty easy”.  After a few phone calls and travel plans that opportunity became a reality and Schwab made his way to Landsberg am Lech in Southwest Bavaria to lace up his cleats for the Landsberg X-Press Semi Professional football team.

The team is 3-1 so far this season with a major impact from Schwab who has hauled in 4 touchdowns for the club in two games since he has been on the roster.  One of Schwab’s teammates for the X-Press is former Huskie and current Edmonton Eskimo Simeon Rottiers brother Jeremy.  “I asked Iain (MacLean) if he had anyone he’d recommend and he put us in touch with Sam.  He’s been a great addition and is a really good dude”.

“Helping players continue their football careers is one of the most important aspects of our organization” said Coach MacLean. “We are lucky enough to have played a role in seven of our players from last season moving onto CIS and one to the CFL.  I never expected to have one move onto semi-pro football in Germany but it’s pretty amazing to see literally how far football can take someone”.
