The Calgary Colts have unveiled their new head coach and welcome former CFLer Elie Bouka to the club who will take then reigns and get this franchise back to the Canadian Bowl postseason.
Bouka, a Laval, Quebec native is no stranger to Calgary after attending the University of Calgary and playing for the Dinos from 2012-2014.
Following his USports (formally known as CIS) career he was signed the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2016. His NFL career was cut short after suffering a hamstring injury during the preseason in August of 2016, then an ankle injury the following year.
He was waived by the Cardinals in August of 2017 and decided to return to Canada. Prior to his injuries, he was selected in the CFL Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the third round, so he headed to Regina. In 2017 and played four games for the Riders.
Following a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles in the early part of 2018 and another injury, he returned to the Riders for the 2019 season and eventually made his way to the Calgary Stampeders in February of 2022.
He played 43 regular season games in the CFL recording 24 tackles, 15 special teams tackles, four interceptions and a forced fumble.
Bouka will continue the great work done by interim head coach Reyd Kessler as they try and rebuild this Colts team to a competitive force in the Prairie Conference and beyond.
The Conference schedule is being worked on by the PFC Executive and will be ready by the spring.
Welcome to the CJFL Elie Bouka.
