A total of 12 CJFL players have been invited to the CFL Invitational Combine on March 6th on the campus of the University of Waterloo, in hopes of winning an invitation to the National Combine scheduled from March 25-27 in Edmonton.
The Invitational Combine will test the player’s athletic skills including speed, power, strength and agility under the watchful eye of CFL coaches and scouts.
DB Tariq Brown was an instrumental part of the Okanagan Sun secondary in 2025, helping his club to another BC Conference Cullen Cup and berth in the Canadian Bowl. He was named a First-Team All-Canadian collecting a Conference high seven interceptions, returning two of them for a touchdown, had 19 tackles, five assists, added a sack, three knockdowns, forced a fumble and recovered one. In their four playoff games, including the Canadian Bowl, Brown added 12 tackles, seven assists and three knockdowns.
DB Jordan Chizda played for the Valley Huskers in 2021 and was among the Conference leaders in interceptions with three, returning one for a touchdown. He also made 15 solo tackles, had two assists, five knockdowns and recovered a fumble. Following his CJFL career he attended the University of Calgary.
DB Kyle Chorney led the Winnipeg Rifles in defensive points in 2021 collecting 31 solo tackles, 10 assisted stops, had three interceptions, a pair of knockdowns and recovered a fumble. He added 18 more solo tackles, a sack and two assisted stops the following year as the Rifles advanced to the Canadian Bowl playoffs. He is now at Bishop’s University.
DB Jon Corscadden was an Ontario Conference All-Star for the Quinte Skyhawks in 2021 making 21 tackles, had two sacks, a blocked kick, a knockdown, two forced fumbles, had a fumble recovery, and an interception. He is attending Queen’s University.
DL Omari Hastings played for the Westshore Rebels in 2022 making 15 solo tackles, adding seven assisted tackles and had a knockdown. After his lone CJFL season he headed to Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo.
OL Sebastian Holden was a member of the GTA Grizzlies in 2021 on the offensive line. Since then, he’s been blocking at the University of Toronto.
REC DeShawn LeJour was a member of the Regina Thunder in 2019 making 17 receptions for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In 2021 he was catching passes for the Edmonton Huskies and hauled in 26 for a 19.9-yard average and caught a Prairie Conference high nine touchdowns and was named an All-Star and a CJFL All-Canadian. He’s receiving at the University of Manitoba.
OL Riley Schick (pictured) was awesome for the Regina Thunder named a two-time CJFL All-Canadian in 2022 and 2023. During that 2023 season he split time between the Thunder and practicing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Since leaving the Thunder he has been playing for the University of Regina.
REC Matt Sibley hauled in seven passes for the Okanagan Sun in 2021 with an average of 17.9 yards a catch. He also returned 11 kicks, averaging an eye-popping 30.5 yards and returned one 95-yards for a touchdown. Following his CJFL career, he attended the University of Calgary.
DL Johnathon Stevens played his final CJFL game this past November and hoisted the 2025 Canadian Bowl with the Saskatoon Hilltops. He is a three-time CJFL All-Canadian and led the Prairie Conference with three sacks last year to complement his 11 tackles, 18 assisted tackles, one knockdown down, forced and recovered a fumble and was continuously putting pressure on the opposition’s offensive line. He is a free agent now that his junior career is over.
OL Thomas Ta’avili had an outstanding All-Canadian season for the Ontario Conference champion St. Clair Saints. He will turn heads at the CFL Combine.
REC Daniel Yusuff made 12 receptions for the Edmonton Huskies this past year, averaging over 11 yards a catch and scored a pair of touchdowns. His 2024 campaign was slightly better on the production side of things hauling in 18 receptions, averaging 14 yards a catch but was held without a touchdown.
All 12 players are looking to make a significant impact at the Invitational Combine in hopes to be invited to the National event in Edmonton. Good luck to these players!
