Ontario Conference Week 10 Wrap Up

The Saints, Beefeaters and Hurricanes get the win

These two teams played only one half before they agreed to finish the game at halftime with the Saints scoring 93-points as both the offence and defence hit the scoreboard.

Quarterback Matt Guenette completed 12 passes for 160 yards and five touchdowns to five different receivers giving him 29 on the season, one off of the Ontario Conference single season record.  The Saints have one more game on their schedule. The offence added three more touchdowns on the ground.

Defensively they scored four majors, three on interceptions returned for touchdowns and Jaylin Burnett picked up a fumble and took it 15-yards to the house.   Over on Special Teams Marselio Mendez returned a punt 55-yards for another touchdown.

This coming weekend the Saints (7-0) will play their final game of the regular season as they host the London Beefeaters (5-1).  The Grizzlies (0-6) visit the Quinte Skyhawks (2-4) on Sunday afternoon.

This was a very entertaining game with the Beefeaters scoring eight points in the final quarter to outlast the Skyhawks in London.  Halfway through the fourth frame quarterback DJ Fonti rushed 23 yards for a touchdown to seal the win for the home side. He also threw two touchdown passes finding Brandon Visouvath and Michael Downs for scores.   On the ground they tallied 257 yards trying to control the clock.

Defensively the Beefeaters were stout compiling five quarterback sacks, Clay Ritschard had three of them along with six tackles. 

The Skyhawks defence played well, forcing the Beefeates to concede three safeties over the course of the game.  Offensively however they struggled to move the ball with their lone touchdown coming in the second quarter on a Jake Vendetti 15-yard run.

They forced two interceptions on the afternoon with Teagan Good and Terique Downie each picking off a pass.

This coming weekend the Beefeaters (5-1) will visit the St. Clair Saints (7-0) and the Skyhawks (2-4) welcome the GTA Grizzlies (0-6).

The Hurricanes dismantled the Sooners with 529 yards of total offence.  Two quarterbacks combined for 406 yards and five touchdowns as they picked apart the Sooners defence.  Kayrus Sam accounted for 240 of those yards on 10 completions and three touchdowns while backup Matt Murray connected on two more scores and 166 yards.

Receiver Zach Pereira hauled in two of the five touchdown passes but Aiden Gago had the most exciting play of the game, an 80-yard touchdown reception after he got behind the defence and was wide open.  Devin Quammie had a game high 129 yards on six catches.

On the ground Gianluca Muraca gave the Sooners defence something else to worry about on 13 carries he rushed for 125 yards and a had a major.

The Hurricanes defence also forced seven turnovers and had three sacks.

This coming weekend the Hurricanes (5-2) enjoy a bye weekend, and the Sooners (1-5) welcome the Sault Ste. Marie Cougars (2-4).
