It’s Week 10 of the CJFL season with a full schedule of games across all three Conferences.  With games starting to wind down, playoff positioning because much more important with teams trying to lock down their spot.

SATURDAY

Ontario Conference

Quinte Skyhawks @ London Beefeaters – Saturday September 20, 3:00pm – City Wide Field | WATCH HERE

Coming into Week 10 there is a logjam of teams in the middle of the Ontario Conference standings with jockeying going each week.  This is the only meeting of the season between these two teams with a bit more importance in case a tiebreaker situation comes into play in a couple of weeks. The Beefeaters are coming off their bye week so have had that extra week of preparation, while the Skyhawks on the road for the second straight week after losing by 35 in Hamilton last Saturday and need to find a way to score points on a very tight Beefeaters defence who have allowed the second fewest points in the Conference.  This is also the final home game of the regular season for the Beefs and a possible playoff preview.

The Ontario Conference nightcap features a pair of teams going in different directions.  The Saints are 6-0 and rolling through the regular season while the Grizzlies are struggling, looking for their first win.  This is the only meeting of the season between these two teams.

BC Conference

Langley Rams @ Okanagan Sun – Saturday September 20, 4:00pm – Apple Bowl | WATCH HERE

This is a potential playoff preview as these two teams meet for the second time this season. The Sun have already clinched homefield advantage throughout the playoffs while the Rams are one of three teams with five points in the standings, still fighting for their playoff lives.  In their first meeting the Sun shutout the Rams 39-0 in Langley and are coming off an emotional win over Westshore. The Rams are hoping to take advantage of a possible overconfident Sun team.  They are coming off a tie last week, their first points after a three-game losing streak.

Valley Huskers @ Kamloops Broncos – Saturday September 20, 6:00pm – Hillside Stadium | WATCH HERE

A pair of teams battling for a playoff spot meet in Kamloops on Saturday night when the Broncos welcome the Huskers.   This is the second meeting of the season between these two teams after the Huskers claimed a 25-6 home win on August 16th.   They are coming off a tie last week and are unbeaten in their last two games trying to make a late push with three games to go. The Broncos meanwhile are winless this year with three games left on their schedule.  If they can win all three it would propel them back into the playoff discussion, but they will need to find a way to score points.  Prior to their bye week, they averaged scoring just five points in their last three games.

The island rivalry meets for the third and final time in the regular season on Saturday night when the Rebels visit the Raiders.  The Rebels have won the previous two meetings by an average of 15.5 points and are looking for more of the same to lockdown a home playoff date with a win. They are coming off their second loss of the season and will no doubt take their frustration out on the Raiders who are coming off a tie last weekend.  With the point the Raiders remain in thick of the hunt as one of three teams with an identical record. They will play two of their final three games at home.

Prairie Conference 

Regina Thunder @ Winnipeg Rifles – Sunday September 21, 1:00pm – Maple Grove Field | WATCH HERE

For the second straight weekend the Thunder and Rifles duke it out in the Prairie Conference.  Last weekend the Thunder stormed back to score 15 points in the fourth quarter to hand the Rifles a heartbreaking defeat.  The win allows the Thunder to stay in a first-place tie atop the standings, while the loss pushes the Rifles into a three-way tie for third as both teams play their sixth game of the campaign.   It’s also the final time these two will see each other in the regular season.  The Thunder trying to win their second straight and the Rifles looking to snap a three-game slide.

Saskatoon Hilltops @ Edmonton Wildcats – Sunday September 21, 1:00pm – Sherwood Park | WATCH HERE

The Hilltops and Wildcats meet for the only time this season with four points separating them in the standings.  Last weekend the Hilltops put up 51 points on the road in Calgary and their defence didn’t allow a touchdown.  They play their final road game of the season looking to move one step closer to clinching first-place with a major game next weekend.  The Wildcats are coming off an impressive win in their last game beating their crosstown rivals.  They will play at home for the final time this season and are in the thick of the playoff hunt.

The Colts and Huskies meet for the first of a home-and-home this weekend in Calgary with both teams coming off a loss.  The Colts had their two-game winning streak snapped and will look to get back to 500 on their homefield.  The Huskies are very young this season and are taking their lumps, however a win this weekend would put them right back in the playoff hunt with two games remaining, both at home.  This is an important game for both teams in the jockeying for playoff positioning.

Ottawa Sooners @ Hamilton Hurricanes – Sunday September 21, 4:00pm – Hamilton Stadium

It’s the only meeting of the season between these two teams and an important one with four points separating them in the standings and the Sooners with a game in hand.  The Hurricanes are playing good football right now, winning four of their last five, putting up an average of 39 points in those wins.  The Sooners are coming off their first win of the season and a bye week so will be prepared for Hamilton.  With three games to go, this is the final contest on the road before the last two at home.  If they can string a couple of wins together, they will get back into the playoff discussion.
